What a talent

I love this guy's writing. Whether it's for the screen or the stage, he creates the most subtly fascinating characters and situations of any writer working. "You Can Count on Me," especially, is an absolute classic.

Yes, I really like "You Can Count on Me" also. In fact, I purchased a copy because I knew I would want to see it again from time to time. I, who never buy videos, bought this one. I hadn't read anything about it anywhere. I just went to the video store and found it while looking for an interesting video to view. Then, yesterday, a local theater company sent out their schedule of new productions upcoming and Lonergan's new play "Lobby Hero" was listed. This was the first time I had seen "You Can Count on Me" or Lonergan mentioned anywhere. I'm planning on subscribing to their season just because they chose a work of his to produce in Pittsburgh. Then, I decided to get on the net and look for his name and I found this web site. I'm now looking up and trying to read and see his other work. That kid "Sammie" in "Count on Me" was not only an individual but really representative of a character type we see so often in young people (and some old "young" people). The two star actors were fantastic in the roles. I don't even know who they were because I'm one of those weird people who never pay attention to the names of the actors. I hope he comes to Pittsburgh for his opening. It would be interesting to hear him talk about his work and meet him. There's a lot of inspiration around for the character of Sammie, but I'd like to know what his inspiration was.

It must run in the Lonergan family! His cousin, actress Chantal Lonergan, is also very talented from what I've seen. Look her up on the IMDB.com.

He's an excellent writer/director...

Watched his movie ("You Can Count On Me") the other night and was just blown away. What a great, original talent this Kenneth Lonergan is! I'd love to work with someone like him, so clearly in tune with human frailties, foibles and emotions.
