I'm almost shocked to see Blake Lively's career on the upswing, it seemed like after Gossip Girl she was having some bad luck with a string of flops which led to her taking a brief break but wow, she looks wonderful in Cannes and not only is receiving the attention of critics with her turn in the Woody Allen piece, but she's carrying a blockbuster all on her own (The Shallows). She's definitely replaced Jennifer Lawrence as the it girl.

Lol Blake is no Jennifer Lawrence. But let's not sit here and act that Leighton Meester wouldn't switch spots with Blake in a heart beat. Leighton tried the movies and tried the fashion scene and it never worked for her. She tried music and that didn't work either so now she's back to doing TV shows because she wasn't successful with doing any of the above. Meanwhile Blake has been persistent and patiently waited for the right role(s). She knows who she is. An average actress who can get by because of her looks and personality. And if all goes well with The Shallows there's no reason to believe she won't be getting more and more starring roles. It has nothing to do with "respecting" yourself.

Outside of Gossip Girl she hasn't done much of anything that's been mainstream successful. Blake Lively and Jennifer Lawrence are good sells hence why they get to be fashion muses and get roles in movies. They have personalities are very charismatic which is important in this business. Jennifer Lawrence is obviously more talented than Blake, hence why she gets the bigger roles but it's the same principle that they're both going off of.

She turned down james franco " oz the great & powerful to work w/Oliver Stone, she turned down Pride & prejudice, but Adeline had the fashion she liked, She said Ryan wanted her to do the Shallows. The "A" concept now is Not what it was in the past. It now has nothing to do with movies, but celebrity status which she always been on that list. She does not have to struggle to he included. The Cafe society comes out in late August & Now you see me comes out next year. I suspect she is where she wants to be in her career, in her marriage, & her quest to have a big family ....go blake

This is what's horrible about Hollywood, marginally talented starlets like BL and Kate Hudson continuously getting roles they don't deserve. Sure they have family connections that will keep them in the spotlight but is it worth it.
