There is another actress named Peyton List. I Googled this It refers to union actors (SAG, AFTRA, AEA). Once a name has been registered with the union, it cannot be used by someone else. The reason is simply that you could not be distinguished from the other actor of your same name without a description or picture every time. If you are non union actor you can keep your name. So they both must not be members of any Union.

Rumor is this Peyton List registered her name as Peyton Elizabeth List. But she was the only Peyton List at that time so they didn't use her full name in credits even though she joined under that name. And it set a precedent of never using her middle name. Now the new Peyton List is sometimes credited with her middle name, even though she didn't join with her middle name.

I tend to think she just didn't want to be called Peyton Roi. I heard SAG just sends you a letter saying they're not responsible for any mix ups. The Vanessa Williams also established if there's no clear conflict they're allow it.
Miss America Vanessa Williams is registered with SAG as Vanessa L. Williams. She has been credited as Vanessa Williams to take advantage of her fame as Miss America but the one from Melrose refused to make a case of someone using their real name.
