Is he over rated

As an actor or is it just me???

reply

I don't think he is a great actor, but the camera seems to like him. However, he seems to "fill" the screen...he has that "certain something." I also find him very attractive!

reply

Oh God yeah!! He is mega attractive; somewhat limited as far as acting, but then again, he seems to be playing similar characters. I read that he used to be a Shakespeare actor, so he is probably really quite good. Would love to hear him speak English English!!

reply

Limited? 😳

reply

I don't think he is over rated. I've loved him in everything I've seen him in. The Baker, The Forsyte Saga Band of Brothers, Life, Homeland and Billions to name a few.

reply

yes. he's posh and it comes through.

reply

It's just you--and others here unfamiliar with his body of work.

reply

Its just you. He can act in anything from potboilers to Shakespeare and seems to have half of America convinced he's American. Perhaps you would like to tell us who you rate as an actor?

reply

Takes on a discipline that maintains the aesthetic sphere of portraying reality; all aspects of acting in front of an impartiall motion recording photographic device of which the facial expressions, per se exhibit to the viewer the definitive subtleties of the character- by staying in continuity through each scene that makes the portrayal seamlessly engrossing so you forget you're just looking at a monitor/screen of which is inamorata optically. Lewis is such an actor- he draws me in immediately so I cannot stop watching- nor want to be distracted. That's the skill beyond talent I expect in the context of definitively orchestrated nuances that our inner mind connects to the explicated art of the consciou illusionist. Film is a mystical realm that we enter so rewarding when it is honestly acted; rewarding us a psychological release to escape from our own life's drama; we are dosed with hormonal opiated endorphin release attenuated by a human beings shapeshifting cinematic recreations of ingeniously written plots.

In each role that Lewis has played, I've yet to se him out of sync to his characters reaction in the milieu his character lives in.

reply

Perhaps you have not seen the very broad range of characters he has played. For example, from Soames Forsyte in The (very British) Forsyth Saga to Charlie Cruze, an American wrongfully convicted LAPD homicide detective. He's anything but overrated.

reply

He was so good in the "Forsyte Saga" that the main character--Soames-- comes off as sympathetic, something that wasn't supposed to happen. So no he is not overrated.

reply

Yes he was. What an outstanding performance. I wouldn't say Soames was a sympathetic character, but that between the writers and Damian's superbly subtle and layered acting, there were times when he was sympathetic.
