He screwed over his comic collaborators and co-creators

RIP Stan, but let’s not gloss over all the times he screwed over collaborators, took too much credit, and was an all around smarmy self promoter.

Nerds owe the man a lot, but he wasn’t some creative saint. He was a moderately talented man who attached himself to more creative people and then stepped over them to get famous.

Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko will probably give Stan Lee a beatdown in Heaven.

He was always collaborating so there's bound to be times where they got screwed over. Overall, he got the credit because not only did he have so many ideas that worked out, he also did the most to push people to read comics. Stan Lee's biggest claim to fame is bringing comic books to the mainstream. And throughout it all, he remained a positive guy where most others would've constantly been fighting and bickering. Stan just wanted more people to read comics, and that's what got him the credit.

I read comics back in the day when I was a child, just not his. My favourites were Whizzer and Chips, Whoopee, Beano, Dandy, Topper, and many others. I didn't like all that stupid superhero spandex crap, even back then.

Comic books were mainstream LONG before Marvel came along. LONG before. Lee had nothing to do with it.

So, like every boss in the history of American capitalism?

He was the Editor at Marvel and made it MANDATORY for creators to add his name to THEIR creations (or they wouldn't get published). Steve Ditko created Spider-Man and died broke---same thing with Jack Kirby and Fantastic Four. .....Odd how Stan Lee "CO-created" everything and couldn't even draw. Stan Lee also had ALOT of business lawsuits. Stan Lee was the Donald Trump of comic---a snake oil salesman. I feel sorry for the artists who died penniless.

Facts people choose to ignore so they can keep on watching Marvel movies without feeling guilty...
