I'd love to see him...

.. do a recurring role as Mycroft Holmes, the brother of Sherlock Holmes, in the series 'Elementary'.

It's a poorly-concealed secret that Laurie's character House was very loosely based on Sherlock Holmes... House/ Holmes, (pronounced "Homes").. Wilson/Watson.. he's crotchety & demanding, solves mysteries with sheer deductive brilliance, Holmes had his morphine & House had his vicodin....

I'd love nothing more than to see Hugh Laurie 'echo' his role of House, but with his own natural accent, playing the brother of the modern day Sherlock Holmes.

To be honest-- I'd have loved to see Laurie play Sherlock, himself... but I'll take what I can get!!!

Sometimes fires don't go out when you're done playin' with them.

House being based on Sherlock Holmes was NO secret at all. The actors and creator mentioned if it multiple times throughout the series. 'Poorly concealed', nope.

Hugh Would be great in the Holmes universe, but oddly enough I'd rather see him as Moriarty. Way more interesting to me.

Though I think after working on house for so long he wont want to work on a show again. I seem to remember him saying something along the same lines as well.
