With the news that House ends this season... thought I'd start a thread where we can all post roles or characters we'd love to see Hugh Laurie cast in.
I'll start with the role of Roland in Stephen King's Dark Tower series. He is absolutely perfect for that character! If the movie ever gets green-lit again, I'd just love to see him cast. :)

shareWhen they made "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" movie, it was noted that Douglas Adams, the author of the series of books and friend of Hugh and Stephen Fry, said he wanted Hugh to play the part of Arthur Dent. But as usually happens, the author has no control over who gets cast and someone else got the part.
I would love to see sci-fy make HGttG the way it was originally done: a series of about ten or so episodes (On the BBC). Hugh could play Dent (although he'd be a bit older than the character is supposed to be, but who cares?), it would be a short, limited series like they do in England (Their TV series only go for 6 episodes a season)and you know sci-fy would do it right.
Somehow the image of a man who travels around the universe in his bathrobe just seems to fit Hugh :-)

I have fantasies of him guest starring on Once Upon A Time! =3
I don't even care as what character, it'd be awesome, but I'm afraid this will always remain a fantasy ^^
Other than that, I'd think it'd be really interesting if Stephen and Hugh took up their Jeeves & Wooster roles one last time, to show us J&W at a more advanced age! A show like that would need some damn fine writers (*cough*Fry&Laurie*cough*) to pull it off though, so that will also remain a fantasy of mine I fear :)
Lots of people want him for the next Doctor on Doctor Who, I'd be cool with that! Even though I don't watch the show :).
Basically, everything HL decides to do is fine by me, but I'm craving some Fry/Laurie in my life! Even if it's just a joint interview. Something! :)
It would've been fun to see him star alongside is former "son" in the new BBC version of Sherlock.
And i'd give anything to see him guest on Once Upon a Time. But which fairy tale character could he play? They're doing Beauty and the Beast this weekend. That would've been interesting to see The Beast transform into Hugh.

If he played the emperor in The Emporer's New Clothes, we'd get to see some naked Hugh (well, partially naked, but I'd take it; it's been too long since fortysomething :-))
