He was great in Flight of the Phoenix, particularly in a movie with such a legendary cast.

Besides Flight of the Phoenix, I remember him from Barry Lyndon, but most of all War and Remembrance miniseries where he portrayed Erwin Rommel.

The picture to see him in for action and comedy is "Hatari." This film has gone out of favor but it looked very realistic and it didn't look like they were using body doubles. But they HAD TOO. Right?
Kruger was excellent and added a lot to an internationaL cast in Duke Wayne's crew.

Yes, it was making this film that inspired him to live in Kenya, which he did for the rest of his life.
