Anyone know of any similar KK-related message boards elsewhere online?
People will be having this discussion on other IMDb boards, so any ideas you pick up: bring 'em back here!

I've been using IMDb message boards for answers to questions for 10+ years. I'm in shock!

reply

I don't understand why this is happening. This is the only positive place I had to talk about Keira.

We had a small but dedicated group that was able to discuss her movies, performances and career.

What do we do now?

I think maybe the only thing we can do is create an online forum and carry the conversations on there.

Something like this:

http://www.createaforum.com/

The only thing is that unfortunately, we won't be able to carry some of the content we already have on this site over to that forum. Plus, I'm not sure all of use are going to check this board within the next two weeks, so we may lose some people.

This sucks.

We could try making our own forum. I'm pretty sad the IMDb boards are closing.

I'm also on twitter. (twitter.com/Lieryn) There are a few Keira fans on there but it's hard to have discussions like we do on the message boards.

Oh no, this is so sad! We should try making a message board, I'd hate to lose this group chat.

my thoughts are stars i can't fathom into constellations

Really shocked they're getting rid of the message boards! I used to always visit the Keira board and still check regularly to see how things are going. But generally after any film I watch the first thing I do is read the message boards! Bizarre they're getting rid of them ?

It really does suck that they're closing the boards, it's the only place around to discuss specific actors/actresses and older movies or TV shows. Reading the reasons we're being given I can state that the boards have become really toxic (not this one, but movie boards)...so much homophobia, sexism, racist crap, politics and virtually no moderation to put a stop to it. Can't understand with all the money this site makes why the owner can't hire a few moderators to monitor and keep the boards free of the nonsense, but that's just me. I'll really miss being able to talk about obscure movies or old 70s-80s TV shows with fellow enthusiasts.

That's right, I'm love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Once upon a time (about ten years ago), I hung out on this particular board all day long.

I was a little too obsessed with Keira K back then, but I still semi-fondly remember it all.

I've enjoyed the IMDB boards since around 2004. I've found them helpful. Sure, in recent years, they have been populated by a lot of weirdos and racists, but I also still find them useful sometimes. When I ask a question about a movie, I'll usually at least get one helpful answer from someone. Not to mention, I think it's awesome that literally anyone with a movie credit winds up with their own board here. That's always been a special thing.

Anyway, I suspect that Amazon is looking to sell the IMDB, and doesn't want to have to explain some of the problematic content on the boards to potential buyers. Understandable, but still wrong, I think. There is value in having a message board system like this. The IMDB will lose traffic because of this development. Not a lot, but some.

Therefore, I'm kind of sad this place is going away. Then again, what are you gonna do?

So long, everyone. It's been real.
