Villain

I think this guy is born to play bad guys, he just doesn't look like a good guy

reply

He's awesome, I totally agree

reply

He looks kind of creepy but he seems like a really good, nice guy who wouldn't harm a fly in real life. He can't help the way he looks.

reply

I read that somewhere. Not the wouldnt harm a fly part, but that he is a really nice guy.

He certainly seems like a very nice person from his Twitter and Instagram. Personally, I don't really think he looks creepy, but it seems that a lot of people do, and hence he plays bad guys a lot. But he seems like a very sweet person, and if you watch when he does play a bad guy, it makes you feel sorry for the character, and it's all because Robert Knepper is playing that character.

reply

Exactly. And there is nobody else who could do a better job at playing T-Bag.

True, but it seems like he is a bit typecast now, as he mostly gets bad guy roles...which isn't fair. Obviously, he is absolutely nothing like T-Bag or any of the other bad guys he's played, but it would be nice to see him play more good guys. But yes, Robert Knepper playing T-Bag was the only reason I could feel some sympathy for a character like that. Sometimes the only reason you like a character is just because of the actor who's playing him or her, otherwise you'd hate the character. A good example of this is Brad Bellick from Prison Break, I absolutely hated the character from beginning to end, and felt nothing for him even though the show tried to redeem him. But if Robert Knepper was playing the role of Brad Bellick instead, I would have felt very differently.

Oh, I agree with what you sad about liking a character just because who plays them. Robert Knepper has actually played as good guys. Im sure there's more, but off the top of my head, he was a good guy in Carnivale (I think), and Hostage. I personally dont think it's necessarily unfair for actors to constantly take on bad guy roles, because from what I read, it's more fun for the actors lol.

I mean it must be very annoying that people keep seeing T-Bag whenever they see him, like how they're always calling him T-Bag on social media...it's like that's all people remember him for and they can't get it out of their minds. They expect him to always be playing T-Bag and it's ridiculous. That show is long over. It happened to Wentworth Miller too...I'm pretty sure people joke with him about Michael Scofield a lot, and that must be very tiresome and annoying because no actor likes getting typecast or associated with just one character they happened to play. I kind of wish Robert would get his own show...where he is the central character in the series, like how James Spader got Blacklist. I don't know what Rob would play, but I'm sure they can come up with a cool character for him. And yeah, I guess playing a bad guy might be a bit more fun for actors because it is always more challenging than playing a good guy.
