Jimmy Kimmel acted like a douche toward Leno

He doesn't know the whole story behind NBC's decision, yet he still went ahead and assume that Leno was the big bad guy behind the whole drama, which recent revealings showed that wasn't the case. Leno is just playing the good soldier for NBC for firing him 5 years in advance because they thought Conan was "the future", not him. NBC still wanted to preserve Leno and refused to release him from his contract, so he couldn't go to another network for at least a year. When the Conan thing backfired NBC had to fall back on Leno who is still under their contract. If anyone's to blame it's NBC for judging Leno/Conan by their future potential and not their current value. Conan deserves some blame too if the reports are indeed true that he demanded the tonights show back in 2004 or else he go to another network.

Kimmel has an opinion. Deal.

I couldn't agree more with you daveduckman!!! Right on!!! Everyone in "Hollywood" took sides mostly against Leno (Team Conan my aunt fanny!) -- and they have the gall to assume most of America thinks ill of Jay Leno. They are so insulated in this town!! Most of America wanted to watch Jay Leno on the Tonight Show. The ratings proved that. When Conan pushed Leno out (and make no mistake, back in 2004 that is exactly what happened when Conan and his people threatened to leave NBC if Conan wasn't guaranteed the Tonight Show!) his ratings dropped. Period.

Who wouldn't want the job back that they were good at if offered to them? If Jay had all this Machiavellian power attributed to him wouldn't his 10pm show still be on the air?

Kimmel should have stayed out of this. He is such a two-face. Last year he pretended to be a buddy to Leno, they switched shows, etc. And then he turns around and mocks Leno? Pretty disgusting Jimmy. I won't waste my time watching your show anymore.

Wherever you go, there you are.

Like a majority of people he sided with obrien. its not that hard to figure out that jay was the bad guy in this situation. As if people didnt hate jay enough, he has to make an ass out of himself on oprah and make people hate him more.

*beep* Jay Leno! I didn't have a problem with him until all of this crap started. If he didn't want to leave...he shouldn't have left. Instead, he pulls a damn Brett Favre and decides he isn't gonna go. His 10 o'clock show was horrible, and every show's ratings after it suffered. Kimmel has every right to bash the hell out of him.

I love how NBC, and a bunch of other people, say that Conan had his shot and failed in the ratings. That is the funniest thing I've ever heard. He basically had 7 months to essentially become the king of late night, beat the ratings that it took Leno years to build up, and win over millions of Leno's 75 year old audience. Ain't gonna happen. I don't care who you put in there.

I'm glad he got all that money from NBC, and hopefully down the line, when a network gives him a real chance, he will dominate Leno. Cause I'm definitely done wasting even 2 seconds watching Jay Leno.

I stopped reading after you said "my aunt fanny"

How f'ing old are you?

You live your life with the storms outside

100% agreement!

And Jimmy just wants Leno to stay out of late night because Jimmy's going to lose any ratings surge his show enjoyed while Conan hosted TTS, and because he fears Jay might someday come to ABC which would get Jimmy either bumped to 12:35 or cancelled altogether. Jimmy doesn't give a rat's hind end about Conan's plight.

Leno is an idiot. It's not Kimmel's fault if the whole extent of it comes to light... :-)))

Wow, so many of you people do not understand comedy, I guess that's why you are Leno fans.
Conan had been doing his show for 11 years at 12:35AM, he had multiple offers to go elsewhere so he went to NBC and they offered him the Tonight Show in 5 years with a 40 million dollar buyout. Jay Leno agreed to retire in 2009 then he decided to one up Conan. Jay accepted the 10PM timeslot but he put in a 100 million dollar buyout in his new contract. He knew Dave would beat Conan, he knew 10PM would fail and furthermore, he knew NBC is a reactionary bunch of bumbling idiots that would give him back the Tonight Show within a year. Leno is scum, he planned this entire thing and just because Jimmy took the time to make fun of his evil plan does not make Jimmy a douche. Get a sense of humor.
