So plain

Even with makeup, she is still plain.

What's the big deal? I don't see it.

You know how some people prefer Rocky Road ice cream and others just prefer a good vanilla?

She is a working girl, no more and no less.

And yet still so freaking HOT!

Agreed. I didn't know who the hell she was but am watching Mr. Right. I looked her up because I assumed she was in this film because she was the child of someone big in hollywood. I'm shocked shes not. I suppose she is playing a regular person in this film though but she is not attractive at all

reply

I agree, I don't get it, either. That's the only reason I came to this board, to find out what the fuss is about... She's not outstanding in any way, imo, wouldn't even stand out in a crowd of normal, regular people.

Kendrick plays up the fact that she is awkward and real. With her it feels real and genuine, unlike other celebrities who try to come off as normal but you can tell its an act (Jennifer Lawrence). I met her last month at a book signing and she seems incredibly real and a bit aloof. She was very nice, in the brief moments I interacted with her, and seems like she has flaws and doesn't project herself to be perfect. I believe that, combined with talent, the girl can definitely sing, is what makes her appealing to people.

reply

thanks for the insight. I haven't heard her voice. I bet she is better in musicals than on film.

reply

Some people apparently really like her singing, but I don't. She has a rather thin voice with no character, she is fine singing in a group but as a soloist is very ordinary. Very ordinary.

There are lots of actresses with really good singing voices, two that come to mind are Melissa Benoist ('Supergirl') and Kristen Bell ('Frozen'). There are others and Kendrick doesn't come close to being in that group.

Benoist sings? She is another one who is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. She has so much positive energy
