share Not enough time to answer those questions! But the short version, have you heard of body dysmorphic disorder which affects mostly women who starve themselves because they "feel fat"? Do we humor a woman who is an eighty pound human skeleton and give her diet pills?
When Karen Carpenter dropped dead from heart failure because she "felt fat" and starved herself, was she happier and fulfilled?
You are either born MALE or FEMALE! For the medical community and people in general to humor such delusions is really pathetic. These people need help, not surgery to mutilate themselves.
I realize in today's world of "anything goes" and let's humor every twisted delusion that people have, to come out and be honestly against humoring mental illness is now somehow mean. I think the new buzzword is "transphobic" to go along with every other phobia that the media has created.
I wish Bruce Jenner well in his new delusional life as "Caitlyn". But he and other men who whack off their $#@#$ are not females. They want to play female. But I am not required to accept them as women.

As far as discrimination, not just "at one time", there are categories of people who are still discriminated against. For instance, it aint very healthy to be gay in a country with Sharia law!

Sorry if I sound harsh. I am not trying to "spread negativity". If I met Bruce/Caitlin, I sure would not say a word to him in regard to his desire to live as a woman. I wouldn't care if he moved into my neighborhood. But I don't see why I must accept a man, any man who cuts off his male organs as a a "real" female. He may really want to live as one but I am not spreading hate because I don't buy into the delusion. How exactly is it hateful if a person refuses to buy into someone else's delusion?
Recently I took a quiz on-line. Afterwards they asked for some personal information: your country, your religious affiliation, age,etc. The usual gender question is "check one box, male or female".
This time it was "What GENDER were you assigned at birth?" HUH You have got to be effin KIDDING me! I was not "assigned" a gender. I presume the doctor took one look at me and said "It's a girl" because I AM!
I was "assigned" a name by my parents. I was "assigned" a Social Security number by the government.. But I was not assigned a gender. God created male and female.
I also don't have any money in this race either! But this society of ours is going off the rails when it caters to delusionality such as " You are assigned a gender at birth."
Actually I don't think a lot of these men who "feel" like women actually have a clue what it is to be female. And how would they? They are men! Bruche Jenner said that he was wearing pantyhose under his suits years ago to "feel like a woman." He couldn't wait to finally "be" a woman so he could wear nail polish all the time. I have female friends who detest pantyhose and never paint their nails. So is Caitlin more of a woman than they are?
I find it extremely alarming that there is a growing trend to allow young children to take hormones or other drugs to suppress natural adolescence so they can be the gender they "feel" like. Our society is in the middle of a full blown crack up. I don't want to spread hate, but preading a little sanity would be nice.

Do YOU know the number of transgender people who try to commit suicide? Do you know that many transgenders are still suicidal after surgery? I admit that I don't have the numbers at hand, but they are high.
Something cannot be "significantly less" of a mental disorder because people accept it. If I had a friend who was an alcoholic and he or she enjoyed his lifestyle, I still wouldn't offer him a cocktail if he came to my house.
Sorry to seem so argumentative. You sound like a nice person who means well. I am not trying to "spread hate". But I cannot pretend to think it is normal to cut off body parts because you want to be a different gender. The scientific truth is, you CANNOT change your gender. You CAN live your life as the opposite sex if you want to. It's not against the law. And I would not condone violence against a person who lives that way.
So much of society advocates acceptance. Okay. Acceptance of a person as a human being with rights. But why do I have to pretend that I actually believe the person has magically changed genders through surgery, clothes and cosmetics? I don't and I can't pretend to think it is normal.
For years feminists have shoved the idea down our throats that "gender identity" is merely a social construct. Girls "only" play mommy and play with dolls because that's what they are "forced" to do by society ( I guess having a uterus would in no way make them maternal. Nature isn't THAT clever. lol). Boys act aggressively "only" because they are socialized that way and given trucks and G.I. Joe toys and action figures. Never mind that testosterone makes males more aggressive. And it's the highest in young men. So who do we send to war? But give the children gender neutral toys and they'll somehow "choose" their identity.
Now the transgender community and its advocates come out with YES OF COURSE, male and female brains ARE different. If you have a female brain in a male body or vice versa, life is sheer hell. Well I agree, up to a point. If you FEEL like one gender and actually ARE another, life must be pretty awful for you. Just as if you are schizophrenic and feel like people are trying to kill you, life is horrible. But it doesn't mean that what you feel is necessarily real.
So seriously, which is it? We've been told by the Gloria Steinem crowd for decades that there are NO appreciable differences between boys and girls. It's ALL a masculine plot to keep girls down and women in their lower place. But NOW, surprise! We DO have brains which are wired differently. Can you just understand, if not accept, that I don't buy into the current pseudo science of the day? I am not trying to be mean, just logical.
These people have some serious mental issues. Chastity Bono came out as a lesbian. Then a few years later she "came out" as a man. I did watch the special that she did - Becoming Chaz. Later on Chaz said that he was never a lesbian. Honestly, is this not some messed up @#@# or what? When people don't know if they like boys or girls, IF they ARE boys or girls,etc. WTF. I don't feel hate towards them. I feel sadness and pity. When a person has that much trouble identifying what or who they are, that is sorrowful. But the typical politically correct crowd just wants to humor them.
It's a disorder. People with this condition do need help and treatment. I feel bad for them. But sharing in their delusion will not help them as far as I can tell.

I don't personally attack people. Actually I understand that Caitlyn and the rest of transgenders are terribly unhappy and confused people, hence my "sorrow and pity". So YOU have never felt sadness or pity for those in pain?
How do you figure I have my life "all figured out"? What the heck does that mean? I guess you COULD say that I am lucky because I know that I am female. But beyond that, you don't know me and you seem to have a bit of a patronizing attitude going just because I expressed a strong belief that transgenderism is a mental disorder. Disorder does not equal evil (if that's what you think I mean). Just what it is, a disordered form of thinking.
Who the freak am I putting in a "nice neat little box"? There is reality and there is fantasy and delusion. If a person has a delusion that they are a woman in a man's body, vice versa, or Napoleon for that matter(!), so be it. There is such a thing as reality even though there is a segment of society which maintains that anything goes!
Maybe to you reality is a fluid concept, but there is an actual real world.
Well sorry to say, but I DO feel sorrow and pity for those who are hurting. I can respect them as human beings but I still feel sad for them. I haven't encased my feelings in ice as some people have. And to whack off body parts and mutilate yourself in order to be the gender you "think" you are has to be one sorrowful and sad life.
I CAN pity people for their misery and still respect them as human beings. The two feelings are not mutually exclusive! As I said in another post, I wouldn't mind if Caitlyn Jenner moved into my neighborhood. If Caitlyn asked to borrow a cup of sugar or something else, I'd give it. For one thing, I wouldn't insult Caitlyn because she could probably beat me up. LOL
Of course it's none of my business what people do. But so many celebrities cannot resist the siren song of publicity. They have to put their stories and their personal lives in people's faces and, crazy me!, when people shove their lives in my face, I tend to form an opinion.
I never watched that Kardashian freak show circus that Bruce Jenner was swept up in. But their faces were on the covers of every magazine in the checkout aisle of the grocery store. I get the feeling that Bruce Jenner used some of that money and publicity from the show to finance his transformation. (after all, how much money was he still getting from his days as an Olympic athlete). These people WANT publicity. They WANT to bare their souls. Well surprise, surprise! Shove your business in my face and you may not like my opinion but you may get it. But really, does MY little opinion mean diddlysquat to Caitlyn Jenner? I think not!
Another thing, I caught part of Bruce Jenner's interview with Diane Sawyer. She seemed so dismayed and upset when Bruce said he was a conservative. What HORROR! The man was about to whack off his @#@# but when he said he didn't like Obama's poilcies, she was about ready to cry! The woman was in shock.
So don't give me the all inclusive politically correct lefty talk. You folks only accept what YOU want to accept. At least Caitlyn is a conservative, so I know she's not totally over the edge.
As for labeling everything I don't like or agree with as a "mental disorder", well ,uh, no I don't. When and how did you come to that particular conclusion?
I have known people who cheated on spouses and I disagree with that. Not a mental disorder, just a sin! Remember sin? It actually does exist.
I've known people who lie or steal, also not a mental disorder, just more sin. I myself, as a card carrying member of the human race, also sin and I don't have any mental disorders (not any really BIG ones as far as I can tell anyway).
I simply refuse to buy into a delusion and accept it as reality just so the PC , snowflake crowd won't label me a hater. See, you folks have your labels too!

I think the only trans person back in the day with a lot of publicity, Christine Jorgensen, had surgery in Copenhagen. So to me, anyway, it makes sense someone would think of that part of the world for a sex change.

I never heard of Jorgensen, but she was very public about it. I first heard of was Walter/Wendy Carlos, who switched in the late 60s but only came out 10 years later. I probably read about it in a music magazine. He got his lady parts in New York, so it was available in 85.
Carlos did identify as female as a child, which is required for Gender Identity Disorder/Dysphoria. It certainly is possible to have a male body and female brain, due to genetics or prenatal testosterone. There are other reasons for transition that seem fake to many of us.
I have to admit, the whole phenomenon isn't completely clear to me....probably because 1.) I'm not a specialist, and 2.) I'm not someone experiencing it, myself. But it seems like the sensible thing to do is to take both those groups' word for what trans people experience.
Even if it WERE to be just misguided cosmetic surgery (which it doesn't seem to be to me), what would be the harm in letting people live their lives as they want? If someone wants to present themselves as a certain gender and are willing to go to these lengths to achieve that...so what? Is it any of our business what others do to their bodies?
If we're going to deem trans people "fake"...should we apply that to breast augmentation/reduction, facelifts, nose jobs, hair coloring, etc. etc., (in short, all the other things people do to their bodies? ), speaking our vigorously against the procedures, even trying to stop them? Who really cares...and why?

That's why it was strange because I thought you'd have to be a citizen of Denmark to get the surgery there (socialized medicine) and pay into the Danish system. I didn't think they would take all 'comers.' Christine Jorgensen had relatives in Denmark, I seriously doubt Caitlyn did. That sounded bogus to me about Bruce wanting to go to Denmark. I think people are making S**t up. It would have made more sense if he/she said wanting to go to Tijuana - Dr. Ronald 'Butcher' Brown - but not Denmark. People lie, though.
