Always great. He was truly wonderful in "...tick, tick, tick..." from I believe 1970...a poor man's "In The Heat Of The Night." Has a fine soundtrack as well.

He plays the local fat racist, who, in the end has a crisis of heart and backs (Jim Brown) the new black sheriff.

& of course the tuckered out (trusty?) in "Cool Hand"---the perfect pitch for his character. He cares about his job, but, he's conflicted just neath the surface and just worn to a nub. Great portrayal.

A thorough professional.

You got it, waitress---A Sunday Direct Hit "as it echoes through the canyon
Like the disappearin' dreams of yesterday"

...that what movies are---what film is---disappearing dreams & boundless echoes of yesterday. We here at MC, we grab 'em as they fly by and nail 'em up here on the line. You grasped on to Clifton James and nailed him up, if only for a while. Someday, someone else will catch holt of him and cite him. But, today, you did so, waitress.

There he is...Clifton James - (1920-2017)

Thanks for that info Cul. I'll be sure to check that out one of these days.
I went back and watched a youtube clip of him in Cool Hand, I had forgotten him being in that movie. He did a bangin' job.

Disappearing dreams and & boundless echoes of yesterday - what a line Cul! Its always nice to discover a movie you've forgotten about or discover something new about an actor you've only seen a handful of times.
