HJ's Wife is 14 years older than him.

How do you feel about this? Maybe I'm just small minded, but it seems kind of weird.

Age is nothing but a number. They are great together. And technically, she's 12 years, 9 months older than him - not 14. Have you ever heard of the 7+ rule? It's when the eldest person in the relationship halves his/her age and adds 7, or conversely, the youngest person in the relationship can double his/her age and subtract 7 to get the oldest person he/she should date for it to be considered decent by society's standards. Jackman and his wife actually pass that test. They married when was 27 and she was 40. If you double his age at the time, and subtract 7, you get 47. If you halve her age at the time, and add 7, you get 27. So either way, they should be considered fine even according to society's shallow standards.

If Jackman was 13 years older than Deb when they married, probably nobody would be complaining. It's a double standard.

I think we have known that for...well, it has been a known fact foryears now so I never really thought about it. She met him when he was nobody and she was famous, no fans today knew who he was back then. There is nothing weird about it. It is still a bit sad when it is considered normal when a guy marries 20 years younger woman but it is considered weird vice versa.

People keep saying that but is it really considered normal when a guy marries a woman 20 years younger. I don't consider that normal. I don't think most people I know would either. They'd all be "she's too young for him. It won't last. They have nothing in common." That said, you're right, the reverse is considered more strange. I think because we can understand why a younger woman would marry an older man more than we can understand why a younger man would want to marry an older woman.

I think one of the reasons is that it is often seen through man´s eyes (why would he choose an older woman?). As a woman, I can understand why, a successful, older but beautiful woman would choose a younger man for some reasons (while young woman with an older man is suspected for just wanting his money, older woman simply wants a man who can...well, last longer :D ). But I think love really is blind so I think it is more common now due to modern ways of communication. In the past, you just went out to meet friends of your age while now, when you create a community at the internet, the moment you meet outside the internet, there are people of different ages. Sci-fi conventions are a good example of this (in my case)

However, it was not a case of Hugh and Deb. They simply fell in love during filming :)

Age is nothing but a number.

That's not true.

However I do agree that it doesn't matter in this case.
They are apparently happy. Good for them.

There could be many reasons why a man would want to marry a woman much older than him it could be money reasons looking for experience and looking for a mother figure i personally don't think it's a big deal unless the woman is more than 30 years older and 40 years older.

What the *beep* lol relationship mathematics.

I'm familiar with that formula and it has occurred to me when thinking about date-able women. It's kind of a guideline as to whether you should broach the subject or let it go.
I once expressed to a woman she was within the formula, and I think she was a bit unnerved, but she got over it, eventually. I'm so nice and respectful, most women realize I mean no harm, and don't mind a little attention.

I'm not a woman much less Deanna Durbin, but the old-time glam-shot appeals to me.
