To Ryan Hurst. [ Contains Spoilers SoA Season 5]

I'm 37 years old male who loves movies with a soul, real acting, acting that
captures you, grabs you and won't let go. I started watching SoA a while ago
and the story about Opie, his loyalty to the club, his losses.

Your acting as Opie made every scene with Opie the highlight of the episode and
i often found myself asking, what was going to happen now?. Will Opie rise up
from getting knocked down, how many times can he rise up, how much pain can
he take before he cracks. Opie will always be remembered as the gentle giant,
the gentle giant YOU made him into.

I often saw a lot of Opie in myself, being a gentle giant myself with losses,
and i could relate to the fury that he showed at times. I've spilt my share
of fury on many occasions, and you acted him perfectly, because i saw myself.

Your acting as Opie made him into a character you cared for, someone you wished
with all you heart he would make it out alive, on top of things, happy and
without a shadow over his head or weights on his shoulders.

But season 5 ended that. And people say real men don't cry... i call BS on that,
because when Opie died, many tears fell down this gentle giants face,
and now the show will be lesser because Opie, isn't in it.

So to you Ryan. Where ever the road might take you, hold you head high
and know that you created a fantastic character that many got emotionally,
and almost personally involved with.

Thank you for the great acting Ryan, and i wish you the best!.

R.I.P Opie.
The Gentle Giant.

I don't talk a lot on message boards, I am usually the creeper who reads everything and posts nothing. Your post inspired me to get off my arse and post. I applaud your post and am glad that you are able to put what I felt into words because when I try to put them together I am left empty handed. Your post was beautifully written and I give you the highest of fives over the interwebs as possible.

Couple days late, MORE than a few $$'s short, but that WAS hauntingly, beautifully posted. I'm just on Season 5, but I'M SOOOOO completely hooked on SoA, that I've watched all 5 in just about 11 days. I SOBBED when they laid Ope to rest.
Was just watching SVU:(law and order), when a bad ass biker dude appeared...yep,it was Ope...tall,gangly,handsome,sweet and BAD! Sorry that SoA had to put him (&Piney) to bed.
Thanks again for the post,
A Lady Fan.

Just started to watch SOA during Season 6 and became very a serious fan. Ordered Seasons 1 - 5 and finally met Opie. Loved this character and felt so connected to his painful heartache. For the first time since I began watching this series, I cried and cried when Opie was beaten so horribly and then brought back to the SOA compound for the last time. Kurt Sutter wrote a true and sensitive character for Opie and Ryan Hurst brought him to life as no other actor could. I will follow Mr. Hurst's works as long as he continues to act and Opie will remain in my heart as long as I have my memories. Thank you Kurt Sutter for all of the SOAs.

Just watched episode and was literally shouting at the screen...I genuinely feel upset and agree completely with you..Acting and Character was simply brilliant. .I almost don't want to watch in protest anymore..The only thing that is good about this is that he went out a hero and swinging..I salute your part in this awesome series. .
