surprisingly good in the village

the village is her breakout role, the first movie she played a lead in. considering that and her inexperience at the time, i thought she exceeded expectations in that movie. i felt she played a blind woman convincingly enough, her drama skills were sufficient, and in a movie plagued with strange dialogue, she got the best of it, with the exception of the "magic rocks" line near the end. on top of that, the movie wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be, what with M. Night Shaymalon's reputation as a filmmaker after unbreakable.

Coincidentally I just replied to your comment on the Jurassic world message boards. Anyway I completely agree. I think she channeled the character perfectly. And her scenes of terror seemed genuine. Like at the door when she's waiting on lucious and says "no" in the quivering voice. (odd example probably but it's something that stuck with me.) and the scene when she finds lucious on the ground after that retarded piece of spit stabbed him. Very well done and convincing. I think she's a dang fine actress (in both senses of the word) and deserves better recognition for it. If you saw the help (only other movie I've seen her in besides spiderman 3,which doesn't really count) she pulled of a very different type of character and did a great job. Essentially the villain. Lots of peeps complain about her only making it because of her dad. Which is bull. She may have gotten a start with the help of her dad. But what's wrong with that? Should she not use her resources to start her career? I'm sure everyone else would do the same. Her talent is what is keeping her in Hollywood not her dad. I hope she gets more good blockbuster type of roles like JW so that she can have more opportunities to have pic of the litter with roles. I'd also love to see her in a dc/marvel movie. She would have been a good Lois Lane. Although Amy Adams is pretty good too.

i never saw the help because i'm not big on chick flicks (i'm pretty sure it's a chick flick) but i've heard she is really good at playing unlikable characters like that one. i also think she's a good actress and a stunning woman but her problem is she doesn't always work with the right people to bring it out in her. she has been less than stellar in a few movies from what i've heard, but i think one day she'll get just the right part and maybe get close to oscar territory.
