Is he ever going to work again?

Is he ever going to work again? He's killing his career by taking so long to just choose a project.

No actually its quite the contrary, hes picking the perfect roles in the perfect movies. If he continues to do this he will be remembered as a great actor.

I would rather see my favorite actors once ever 4 years in a perfect role and movie then see them 3 times a year in mediocre movies.

Yeah, that worked out well.

He's very picky which is a good thing. Except for Speed racer:)

There has to be a story behind his two-year absence, letting any and all heat from Into the Wild/Milk cool considerably.

An up-and-coming actor landing plum roles in films by Sean Penn, Gus Van Sant, Ang Lee, etc. going away and then returning with The Darkest Hour, a mid-budget sci-fi horror movie being released "cold" (not shown to critics) on Christmas Day; there has to have a story. A more complex story than, "Oh, he's just so choosy."

Was the fallout from Speed Racer seriously so bad?

Like Speed Racer, The Darkest Hour, or The Girl Next Door?

Uh.....Have you seen Into The Wild, Alpha Dog, or Imaginary Heroes? He proved in those movies (which were all pretty great IMO) that he can carry the lead in a film. He's a critically acclaimed young actor. He's also in a movie called Killer Joe that's getting him pretty rave reviews so far, and he apparently just signed on to play a NAVY Seal in Lone Survivor with Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch (who he just acted with in Savages), and Ben Foster (who he also worked with on Alpha Dog).
