How Does He Speak Without a British Dialect on Bates Motel? Dubbed?

Does another person dub a non-English/British dialect voice for Freddie in "Bates Motel"? The reason I ask is in the post-series special Freddie spoke with a very heavy typical British dialect. I can't imagine how he can do away with that dialect in film or television roles. I wonder the same thing about the actor who is the lead in the television series "The Mentalist" who speaks with a strong Australian accent.

reply

No, he just puts the american accent on.
I've noticed a few British actors are generally quite good at American accents. Some examples of excellent american accents by British actors are Hugh Dancy (as Will Graham in Hannibal) and Hugh Laurie (in House).

reply

He's been doing american accents since he was a kid in August Rush.

reply

Are you serious? It's called putting an accent on. Loads of actors do it.

reply

It's called acting!

Damian Lewis

Actors often work with a dialect coach to help them master different accents. It is part of the craft. And you see it all the time. Including americans acting in English productions with a British accent.

The australians are great at mastering an american accent. Did you know that RICK in The Walking Dead is Australian? You should HEAR his native accent!

reply

Lol I'm pretty sure Andrew Lincoln is British

reply

Yes he is

Idris Elba got a solid American accent

I don't think anybody can top Tim Roth though
