One of the most overrated comedians

He's a capable comedian. Meaning, he is mostly NOT funny, but every once in a while he can think of something slightly funny. He's the same as modern-day Adam Sandler.

I just don't get the appeal or why he "blew up" the way he did. Everything I've ever seen him in, consists mostly of him laughing at his own jokes. He's painfully unfunny even in "casual mode", such as recently in Seinfeld's Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.

He's been appearing in a string of hit movies. However, his stand-up routines are not that funny. Every now and then, you'll get a good chuckle, at the most.

You *beep* with the wrong Marine! - Col. Jessep, A Few Good Men.

What, you mean the sceaming in an obnoxious voice doesn't make it funny?

reply

yeah that's about all it is anymore. his early stuff was funny but now it's just the loud black guy making fun of white people shtick. just like others with this formula (Chris Rock, Steve Harvey, Eddie Murphy, Katt Williams, Cedric, etc etc) he will become irrelevant soon enough

reply

I noticed the whole making fun of white people in most of the commercials for his past few movies. Kinda strange for them to market him that way,but the wedding ringer or whatever looks like a lot of that.
