I always thought Linda should have been in one of the three sequals after Beneath.My idea was either only hear her voice in Escape(e.g.,over a PA system,on radio or offscreen on television)or as a female ape.In the latter case,I would have had at the end of Conquest,the Lawgiver's daughter show up greeting her Father,& learn in the closing credits,Linda Harrison played the part.
shareagreed, but I think even better, Nova just shouldn't have died and she should have played her in "Escape".
I don't get why they let her die anyway, given that she wasn't a famous movie star she probably would have been thankful for a new job anyway. Anybody know?
how could she have lived? Taylor sets off the nuke and everyone gets obliterated. the only way would be if she was somehow with corneilious and zira and milo when they escape in the repaired spacecraft. she was needed for brent to find taylor which was the whole plot so just not possible. I don't think they would have rewritten major plot points to save the nova character who was ancillary and had almost no dialogue. I love Linda harrison and her character though, she was great. I am a huge fan of the entire apes franchise (excluding the craptacular remake)with battle being the weakest but still enjoyable. the time loops paradox set up here could have influenced future scifi greats like terminator and back to the future, if you think about it. I have the box set and I'm happy to say I paid exactly ten dollars for it on clearance. worth so much more. great quality and nice bonus discs but I would have loved some commentaries.

IMO it WOULD have been worth it, because
[SPOILER]The whole idea of blowing up the world was Heston's idea anyway. And it wouldn't have been that big of a deal to let Nova go a different way, e.g. running away and then accidently sliding down a tunnel, after which she finds Zira and Cornelius and escapes with them.
Also, I think it would have been worth it to have a character in the other sequels which doesn't have an ape mask on. It's far more valuable as you can really recognize the actor.
Actually, I think Miss Harrison IS in "Escape..." It's a cameo. She's a postal letter carrier. Not even credited in the IMDb cast list for that movie; but when I last watched it about 15 years ago during my viewing marathon of all five of the original Planet of the Apes flicks I KNEW it was she.
