If Taboo emerges on FX earlier than on BBC, then as you said some time ago, I may need to go 'full pirate'' (I don't get FX in Europe).

reply

I get FX in Asia and I'm seriously hoping Taboo will find its way over here

I've been seeing the tv spots-
Can't wait for this.

I was pleased to see Taboo being advertised on Fox at the end of the MLB World Series game opener- it was something a bit different than the teaser ads they are using on FX and other channels related to my cable provider - someone is pulling out all the stops for this show I am pleased to see, that could not have been a cheap ad. I was not so happy to see an ad for Leo's environmental documentary right after it. Cough.

I see Jason Momoa has a new series on Discovery Canada, called Frontier which sounds similar to Taboo but certainly rooted in the Canadian experience vs England.

Frontier
With seeds rooted in Canadian history, and explored for the first time on television, the action-packed and authentic fiction series follows the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade of the late 18th century. Told from multiple perspectives, FRONTIER takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Aboriginal tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.

I did a long essay in university on the fur trade and I did my essay not on the Hudson's Bay Company but focused on the North West Company and their rivalry with Hudson's Bay. Took a lot of digging since they were not as well documented as HBC.

And no doubt the movie The Revanant itself piqued interest in the fur trade.

Yes! Finally.
The good news is also that the US release in not too much removed from the UK one.
