You're right, tommy

Though playing a dastardly man whose integrity has been tested has become your thing, there's not a lot of reason to switch it up, especially if that's where the paychecks come.

Somewhere in there you may find time to play an uncomplicated, ordinary man with a rich emotional life because it would afford you a lovely canvas to display your depth. Sort of like Locke, but not as boring (sorry, not entirely your fault)' or like forest in lawless, but more range. We know you do beaitiful work, not always just the bad guys. I'd rather have more Forrest than more grandstanding Ronnie ( was he the worse one?). More The Take than the Krays. At some point it gets too cartoonish.

I won't be able to watch taboo because I don't have cable, but it looks good. And I know you can write good material because you & Kelly rewrote Bronson. Whenever it gets to Hulu or Netflix, I'll definitely watch.

Good luck with everything, much love to you and yours as usual,
P

Actually Mr. Hardy has I think 3 or more movies coming up where he is indeed switching it up in so far as he is not playing the bad guy.

Playing a pilot hero in Dunkirk. Coming soon to a theatre near you in July 2017.

A movie about the Arctic explorer Ernest Shackleton. Maybe this movie was the reason he dropped Everest or maybe he jumped at this when it came his way because he had to drop out of Everest.

A movie about "The story of British war photographer Don McCullin from his humble beginnings in London to working for the Sunday Times throughout the late 1960's to the early '80's."

A movie possibly about a fisherman, perhaps the movie that Stephen Knight says will be filmed in Bermuda, maybe in April? we know that Bermuda Film Commission did say someone was scouting locations there for a movie and mentioned Tom Hardy. So looks like they decided on Bermuda to film something.

Not to mention a cameo as a storm trooper in the next Star Wars movie, unconfirmed though.

It is a shame that IMDB does not show the projects in development for actors anymore or not as comprehensive as they used to you need IMDB Pro to get the fuller scope. And it is not always up to date.

I could also see him taking a role in a children's film as he said to Alan Carr his children can't watch any of his movies well I think Baby Hardy who is what 6 months old?? isn't really up to watching movies yet but you can see the issue. Either voice work or live action or both.

He also indicated he probably will be doing 3 movies in a row this year, perhaps the 3 I mention, Shackleton, McCullin and Bermuda ? movie. In fact I believe Mr. Hardy referenced April as the next movie shooting date for him.

Ah, I think I see what happened. The interview I read was attached to taboo and probably someone asked him why all the darkness. That's why he was all, darkness is good, I can go deeper, yada yada, no need to sing, etc.

But from your post I can see that one project not on the list is the Elton John one.

I was having trouble imagining that one anyway.

None of the projects you mention sound like they would get me out to the theatre. But I will see them if they make it to a streaming service that I use. I rarely go anymore anyway, the last one I saw was the revenant. It's usually tommy or my little Jew that inspire me to go. I tried to see Man Down, but couldn't find it anywhere 😢

As for kid friendly movies, seems like actors really get a kick out of being able to share a film with their kid. The kids get a kick out of it, too. I am oicturing watching French Stewart's little girl watching inspector gadget when she was about two, pointing to the tv "daddy daddy!". So damn cute.

Thanks for the info, clearly I have not kept up.

So, doncha think an official twitter feed would be useful?

There are more projects listed at IMDB Pro, I will post them in a bit but the films I mention are the ones that seem like the kind of different character studies you and me and others are looking forward to, and some of the other projects are old, not sure they should even be on the list. The only other new one was the Capone project about Capone in jail near the end of his life but that is another bad crazy guy study.

Excellent. Exactly what I like.

This is why Gary Oldman did Harry Potter, so his then young sons from his 3rd marriage had at least some films of his father's he could show them but now his sons are adults - and I believe the son from his first marriage worked on the set of at least one of the Harry Potter movies.
