Miss Fellows in Night Of The Iguana

She was perfect for that role.

But having seen a post about that movie today, I was thinking about how the implication was that she was gay, or a lesbian or some such.

She was clearly obsessed with doing her job, and probably sexually repressed as most women, people were in that time, but the difference between the referal to lesbian today and back then are pretty startling.

Now, sexual repression and frustration can make you angry and mean, but it doesn't necessarily make you gay or a lesbian or whatever.

How does this movie stack up in terms of being relevant today? I think it still is - one of my favorite movies, but I have not seen it in years.
