Beyond beautiful... she's like a painting

Just look. I can't pick out a single flaw.

Maybe it's because I prefer quirky and cute over model-esque faces, or maybe it's because I am obsessive over character actors, which I think Maggie is, but I've always thought she was very attractive. I'm honestly surprised so many people find her so unappealing to the point where they're angry that she was cast in certain movies.

Reminds me of a Simpsons quote: “Animals are a lot like people, Mrs. Simpson: some of them act badly because they’ve had a hard life or have been mistreated. But, like people, some of them are just jerks.”

I always thought she had a beautiful face too. Just look at her expressive features, wonderful eyes and luminous smile: https://s3.amazonaws.com/tribeca_cms_production/uploads/uploads/image/gallery_image/51cb4d03c07f5d2934000001/Gyllenhaal_Adaptation.jpg

The first time I saw her was in Riding in Cars with Boys. I thought to myself "now who is that?! She has such a striking face". Yet she was only in about 5 minutes of the film! Shows how far a good impression can go. Then Secretary came out and I became a real fan, have followed her work ever since.

People who call other people ugly, particularly when they clearly AREN'T ugly (as in Maggie's case), are usually just insecure about their own appearance. It's an ugly word. If you don't like the way a person looks, why make a huge song and dance about it? It doesn't effect you. Move on, and direct your energy to something you DO like.

I'm also glad she's not a supermodel type either. Because I find supermodels, both male and female, to be ridiculously boring looking. Maybe it's because modelling is such a vacuous and shallow career that I could never register enough interest in them to admire them. I think to be really beautiful, you have to be really different. Because difference becomes memorable. Look at Sissy Spacek, Meryl Streep, Winona Ryder, Julianne Moore, Lea Seydoux... all unique and unconventional looking women, yet they have such incredible beauty. The beauty lies within the fact that they don't look like everybody else.

All those women are beautiful. Also, I'll see your Streep, Ryder, Spacek, Moore and Seydoux and raise you Laura Dern, Amy Ryan (LOVE Amy Ryan), Lake Bell and Kate Micucci.

I noticed her too in Riding in Cars and wondered who is this pretty young actress? She looked so young on that role. Secretary and Sherrybaby made me a lifelong fan. She's superb and her looks make her stand apart from all the silicone barbies in Hollywood. And on top of that she can act!
