Jake Gyllenhaal vs Ryan Gosling

Who's the better actor? Who produces more quality films?

I've never been that impressed with Ryan Gosling even with his recent Oscar nom. Jake did a fabulous job in Nocturnal Animals and was surely snubbed this year. His body alone is enough to turn heads. So much more attractive than Ryan. Gimme a break. What the heck is the matter with the SAG, Academy and Golden Globe judges this year?

Gosling has more main stream appeal. Gyllenhaal has never been able to reach box office draw status. Both are very good at playing to their strengths and managing their careers. Both have good eye for scrips and choose good projects. I like how gosling backs away from the public eye from time to time just long enough for people to miss him which keeps him from being overexposed. I would say both are at the top of the list of actors in their 30s. In my opinion, Gosling gets love for anything he's in, while Gyllenhaal gives as good or better performances and doesn't really get the same attention and respect. I think that Gyllenhaal is the superior actor, while Gosling is better at being a movie star.

Stop trying to sound like a studio executive. You're part of the problem. People like you snub good actors ro favor other mediocre actors because you don't know what a good actor is.

reply

I would say Jake but I'm biased. Both are 2 of the best actors of their generations. Both have rarely done very mainstream films, preferring to stick to indies and push their talent.

reply

I wouldn't say that they are the best of their generation. They just are the most recognizable. I would say that they are popular for whatever reason.

of actors born from 1980 and onward? Maybe Ben Foster and Joseph Gordon Levitt can compare but Gyllenhaal and Gosling are by far among the top,

reply

Okay. I don't get the Ryan Gosling hype. What is so special about this guy? I know Drive was a popular movie but even that wasn't a great movie.

reply

For me it's Half Nelson, Lars and the Real Girl, The Place Beyond The Pines

I heard great things about Blue Valentine but I never saw. I'm sure a lot of the hype is due to The Notebook and Drive.

They're both great and I admire their film choices. They're not in it for the big budget flicks

Who would win in a fight?
