Greenwood - excellent as Christopher Pike in the Star Trek movie

But overall I have to dislike the movie because of the stupid plot and alternative time line gimmick that Abrams seems to not be able to do anything without.

It is not the actor's fault though, and Greenwood and all the rest of the crew were fantastic.

What I liked about Greenwood's Pike was that he was not the usual cardboard cut-out Starship captain that gets portrayed as an incompetent imbusile to make Kirk look better. Pike was on the job and did a great and courageous job as the captain and as a mentor to young Kirk.

Too bad about the movie though. Maybe he'll get another chance.

Good job!

He added class and stature to the movie and stole every scene he was in.

Mr. Greenwood got the command presence down pact that a leader of men and women should have!

His interpretation of Capt Pike rocked!

Haven't read much science fiction, have you?

When I did read science fiction I read everything. You are kind of uppity and ignorant to make that statement, at least if you mean it to be directed towards me. I don't really understand your problem, I guess you are too inarticulate and jump to the wrong conclusions. You should work on that.

I really hope he signs on for the 2011 sequel.

And I wish he'd finally get his chance at a lead role in a major picture...although he may like the life of a support actor more -- just as much fun, but less fame and therefore more privacy and less papparazzi

I just watched the DVD of "Star Trek" that just came out recently ... and I have to say I
think Greenwood was the best thing in the movie.

I also think the movie is not so bad as I thought it was when I first saw it, but I still do
not like the whole alternate universe thing.

Why do all the "heros" in American movies have to be obnoxious undisciplined idiots,
like Kirk is in the beginning of the movie. How would Kirk and Spock be friends when
Kirk is a completely different person. His whole thing of crashing his step-dad's car
really irked me.

Let alone the fact that there are two spocks ... come on!

Anyway ... I like the Greenwood universe. I liked that when confronted with the
Romulan mining ship he came up with a plan immediately, and went right into the
fight, even though he was probably walking right into certain death .. or worse,
getting a big alien bug dropped into your throat.

I liked his seriousness. I also liked Uhura, but the rest were kind of cartoon
characters. Maybe they should have done a remake of the "Star Trek" cartoon
series.

I must say, I can be regarded as a fan-girl as I love comic books, gaming and Star Wars, but I never gave Star Trek much of a chance (I did love 'The New Generation' growing up). I was practically made watch this and really really liked it - a lot!

I agree with what you guys posted above; I also felt Bruce Greenwood was one of the best things about the movie - he brought a nice contrasting balance of maturity and class within an energetic youthful cast..... He played a worthy Pike to serve as the moral centre of the film...

he is what kirk would have been in the original series had star trek been a bit more intelligent when it debuted in the 60's and what pickard would have been if the show was not so politically correct when the next generation debuted in the 80's.

i would love to see a great science fiction theme taken on in the star trek milou with greenwood commanding the enterprise, with possible some of his crew being the younger less experienced kids as this movie went.

the problem with this movie was that the whole movie was stirred up over a ridiculous plot and in order to get money from the younger audience they have to pander to them by creating kirk, the loser, who knows better than the adults. This has been the theme in movie demographics ever since i was a young kid. the movies pander to the younger crowd, and i think it is very bad for everyone. It incents young people to have contempt for society ... which they might well do, but not for the reasons that they see in the movie.

star trek used have some pretty mature themes and morals ... the next generation was almost like a continual apology for star trek.

anyway ... they don't make these movies to please me, so i guess i just have to watch or not watch as i see fit.
