Imitation Game

The things I do for this man.

I was booked to see The Imitation Game @ 7.30 last night. Unfortunately for me a 4.8 metre hole opened up on the M25 around London yesterday and as a result my town was gridlocked. Driving home from a site visit should have taken me 25 mins tops but it took me two and half hours to get halfway. It got to 6.50 and so I parked up the car and RAN home with minutes to spare to peel off muddy work clothes while Mr Britgirl fed me lumps of toast. We ran to the cinema. So if you were in an Odeon cinema and saw a group of women including a harassed, hysterical thing having mud wiped off her face by a tall bearded bloke – that was me.

We got in just at the end of the adverts thank god. Mr Britgirl said “this had better be good after all that drama”. Was it worth it? YES it was!

When Matthew came on screen for the first time in extreme close up and I saw his gorgeous veiny face I was so shocked I squeaked – out loud. I didn’t mean to – it just came out. People turned round to look at me – Mr Britgirl and friends sunk into their seats to hide (probably thinking oh – god it’s Belle all over again – long story for another time).

Anyway it was a good film. Not enough of Matthew of course but way more than we have seen for a while. These aren’t really spoilers – more teasers. His character is another womanising cad (typecast). He has some good lines (including a story about a blow-job and the French national anthem that nearly made me wet myself); gets to punch Benedict Cumberbatch (Hurrah); dances very well with Keira Knightly (he’s a lovely mover); seductively chats up some other woman ( I wanted to be her) and is generally gorgeous. His voice through the cinema sound system sends vibrations through your body.

This was filmed during his exhausted (commuting /nappy changing) ill-looking phase - but he was trying to win a war for god’s sake. Still beautiful enough to make me squeak out loud tho’.

Seriously it’s a good film – he is great and you will love him in it. On general release in UK now and various limited release dates in the U.S.

Oh, sorry about the stress getting to the movies. Glad you made it. I saw it with a male friend and then kept rambling on and on about Matthew in a bar until 1 a.m showing pictures and everything. Matthew and alcohol don't mix well with me :). But it was great fun. I had the friend to admit that Matthew was very good looking.
It is a really good film. I both cried and laughed. I really enjoyed seeing Matthew on a big screen.

Loved his flirting scene and how it ended too, so funny. He looked great. I think he was supposed to look tired, as they were working around the clock.

Glad you enjoyed it too. Your friend sounds VERY patient. My friends are less patient after we went to see Belle [major spoiler if you haven't seen it] I was distraught because he died after 5 minutes - I wanted my money back! I'm going on Wednesday with a Benedict Cumberbatch addict (she was still stuck in the traffic on Friday and didn't make it all) - so that should be interesting.

Hope you will enjoy it again on Wednesday. BC did great as expected, so your friend will be happy. I would have loved to see Matthew much more in the film obviously. But it was great anyway and he did very well.
Now rewatching this scene. Brilliant. (Spoiler for you who haven't seen the film yet.)

Saw on Twitter that he and Allen were doing an interview today on VH1 in NY. He looks so smart in a three piece suit and glasses (swoon warning :)), but looks like the video only shows in the US. Spoiler warning as well.

Cute interview on a morning show. Matthew needs a coffee after tucking his kids in bed late and the little one waking them up.

Ha ha - fun interview. All in bed together including Benedict Cumberbatch in the middle - great stuff.

And here is more of Matthew joking about him with Benedict Cumberbatch. He is so funny and we definitely need him to continue making all the dirty jokes he likes.

Fascinating article. I'm embarrassed that I know so little about these men and women who had such a big impact on the outcome of the war.
