Birdsong (2012)

Anyone here seen it? What's your take on MG's (extremely small) role in this?

I was actually surprised that he got top billing considering he got less screen time than Joseph Mawle; so was a bit disappointed to see that he had approximately 5 minutes in total on screen. I suppose they billed the actors according to popularity at the time and Goode was more of a well-known actor than Mawle.

Still, his role was very small, too small to make much of an impact on the main character, especially in Part 1. There was a bit of an improvement in Part 2 with some good scene with Redmayne. So as a fan it was nice to see how much he brought to the character with the little he was given. Funny how his scenes with these Oscar winning actors make them look better acting wise - forever the bridesmaid (or I suppose groomsman, in his case, eh )!

Oh and I loved his mustache in this. I wish he had a similar one in DA now. LOL!

Then you missed this-

Matthew seems to be quite happy as a character actor - just doing the odd few minutes and then home to the kids - but it is frustrating for fans who want to see another Burning Man where he is in practically every scene.

He is quite chameleon-like - he looks and sounds quite different in every film. If you watch him in Leap Year it is hard to compute that it is same man in Downton or My Family and Other Animals or The Lookout.
