I'm quite sure about that. I like him, but he just can't get to that stage. He'll always just be a pretty good actor. It must be the roles he takes or something.

shareThere are a lot of good actors who have never received Oscars. Personally, I believe the Oscars have become a glorified beauty pageant. I admire those actors and actresses who have turned their back on them in favor of doing the profession they admire. Gleeson is a fine actor, and I could care less if he gets an Oscar just as long as he continues to pursue his craft as he sees fit.

shareGleeson is an actor's actor. He might not get the Oscar as best actor, as he doesn't seem to take a lot of leading roles. But he is definitely overdue for best supporting actor. This guy brings a lot to every film he stars in...he'll get one someday, even if it is one of the posthumous variety.

Not sure what you´re driving at....he does have 3 Golden globe noms but if he never gets nominated for an Oscar...fine. Amy Adams has 5 nominations....and no,she is not that good.
shareHe's trying to say Gleeson needs to be autistic, black, or a gay man fighting adversity to win an Oscar. The Academy Awards are way too political to recognize true acting talent. The show is basically a giant soapbox with people vying attention for the latest cause and buying their nominations with promotions and kick backs.
shareEven that's partially true, the reason why those things have emphasis placed on them, being gay, black, autistic, is because those things have been demonized and downtrodden repeatedly, not just in recent history, but even still now. The "PC" response is pretty much just the counter strike to the way they were treated in the first place. So I don't entirely agree with it, but it makes sense.
