Jessalyn was sensational in Vikings and I use the word WAS.
Sorry for going all Bee Gees on this but she's been sacrificed to build up the Ivar storyline. It was one of the most powerful images in the show so far. She went out with a soft bang and I'm going to miss her.

I think it was more that they had to make way for Rollo to go to Paris. His future could not be with Siggy. It could be that the character served its original purpose long ago and they kept it going longer because Jessalyn was so well liked. They have some leeway with plots because the history is mostly legendary, but Rollo's path is very clear.
