Ungrateful, embarrasing and conceited.

This posh little thing had a meltdown on an Australian breakfast show when they mentioned her breakout role in Home and Away.

Australia doesn't want such an ungrateful snob so feel free to go away and never come back. Please return your origins, heritage, accent and any money you received from any Australian production and we'll happily forget all about you.

Well, I doubt any serious actor who did soap for a living in his/hers early years is proud of it. Soap opera is absolutely lowest you can get as an actor, lower than commercials. Personally I understand her well, because she's one of Australian top actresses, very respected in US and Uk as an actress known from hit tv shows and blockbuster movies and all she gets asked in Australia is some soap she did when she was 16. It could make her famous in Australia but it didn't do ANYTHING for her career as an actress because she moved to States just after finishing this soap and in States no one knows and cares what's 'Home and Away', it could only affect her career there.

She did so many things she can be proud of and all they ask her in her own country is 'Home and Away'. Must be hard for her.

That's ridiculous. Home & Away may not have the prestige of a Hollywood movie, but it made Melissa George a household name in Australia and its a very much loved series both here and in the UK.

It just shows Melissa George to be insecure, ungracious and snooty that she would not only react like that about the show that did give her a start in acting, but that she would then go on to insult her home country and everyone in it, acting like she's too good for us.

OF COURSE when she appears on a Channel 7 morning show, Channel 7 is going to talk about THEIR SHOW, Home & Away! What did she expect them to do? That's still what she is best known for in Australia anyway. She hasn't had many starring roles in other series and movies.

She's a write off for me after this incident, I don't really want to hear another thing about her. If she hasn't become a naturalized American yet, I hope she does and then never comes back. We don't want her!

reply

yup! I totally agree. she made a complete a** out of herself. She could have handled it so much better. Normally I am sympathetic when actors get a little narky about stupid questions, but this was completely light hearted and she really made out like she thought that she was above Australia and didn't need us or want us. What other country would take that crap from one of their own? America wouldn't, that I now for sure. She is clearly very insecure (hence the fact she keeps trying to shack up with very rich men). It's not even like she's even revered in Australia, there are plenty of people that have no idea who she is...enough said I guess.

I agree with you, if she wants to become American or French, then do it! Stay away from Australia for good. I can honestly say she will not be missed at all! She wasn't missed for the first 20 years after all.

The stupid photo of her says it all....'look I'm sexy, really I am, I'm sexy pleeeeeaaaase!'. What an a'hole!

Have any of you seen this meltdown? I've read your posts, but can't find a clip of it anywhere. A youtube member says it never happened, it was all made up by the media. Does anyone out there know the real truth?

reply

SHe has admitted to it

There seems to be some basis in truth, as shown in the tweets collected here:

http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/celebrity/melissa-george-had-no-p roblem-with-talking-about-home-and-away-on-the-jonathan-ross-show/stor y-e6frfmqi-1226514965613

At one point, Melissa tweets "the today show was mean", "channel 7 only spoke of H&A", so she was definitely upset about The Today Show but it's unknown if she had the meltdown that everyone is claiming.

Little people? Who decides they’re so unimportant?

It just shows Melissa George to be insecureOh, the irony.

If anyone dares say anything remotely negative about Australia, Australians jump over each other to whinge, whine, stamp their feet and talk about how great the place is.

The childish reaction against George is all too typical - as are comments like 'we don't want her'. Grow up, FFS.

The MOST charitable people on Earth are Americans. This is an indisputable truth - jag001

It's sort of true this. Australians here in LA tend to judge Americans for being too xenophobic and patriotic, but they behave ridiculously overprotective of their own country if anyone dare criticise it. And they do seem to be very quick to kick someone of their own while they're down. I have always thought she was quite dignified but her comments did seem a little aggressive. Maybe they were taken out of context? Maybe she was having a bad day? Its a shame that actors have to answer for so much as to who they are as people when really their job is to act. She doesn't seem like a tabloid celebrity, maybe she just wants to do her job.

Here here.
You people see one interview or one article that may or may not have included somebody saying or doing something you didn't like and suddenly you don't want to ever see that actor/actress again in any production.

So let me get this straight. Any actor or actress or even musician that says something you don't approve of, you no longer want to see or hear of again?

I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life. How uber sensitive and naive can you be and over somebody you've never met and unlikely to meet and you form this strong over dramatised opinion over them.

Well you carry on ignoring actors, actresses, musicians, presenters, sports people, politicians etc and eventually just sell your TV, radio and even stop going to the cinema and maybe, I don't know, start knitting!?

Seriously grow up

Interview maketh the woman? lmao

Yep. She's a hacked out trollop. Has more mouth than brain, and no ability to control either. She'd be hooking in brunswick if she hadn't decided to cash in on the innocent girl shtick, and then lay on the sophisticated - yet dumb as nails broad - routine.
