LOL the short hair fooled me. But then again I'm always like that with hair...slap a wig or different hairstyle on someone and I won't even recognize them...totally changes the shape of their face to me for some reason...happened more times than I can count (like for Kett Turton in Kingdom Hospital, played both Anubis/Antubis AND Paul, though I had no idea, looked like totally different people). Though in my defense, I wasn't as big of a Jodelle fan then for The Messengers as I am now. Though I did recognize her in Silent Hill after first noticing her awesomeness, talent, and adorability in Kingdom Hospital. She definitely had a great, cute, distinct look as a kid (still does, only now more gorgeous than ever). Except for The Messengers...that wig made her not so cute...sorry, had to be honest :-/ Not the cutest boy in the world lol
Oh, and as for the main topic at hand, I guess they needed a kid and she was simply more talented than any other child actors they saw for the role...girl or guy :-) I'm a big fan of the directors, so I'm sure they knew what they were doing.
