Did she always look old for her age?

The first thing I ever saw her in was NBC's UC: Undercover in fall 2001. I thought the actress was in her mid-30s and was surprised to discover a couple of years later she was actually just 27 when she shot the pilot. She was 3 years younger than her co-star, Jon Seda, who actually looked several years younger than her. Granted, Seda always looked younger than he was, but still.

I recently saw the film Return to Paradise, which I believe was her first movie. That film was released in August 1998, so it would have probably been filmed sometime in mid-late 1997. She would have been 23/24, but she looked like she could have very well been 30.

Seriously, you guys need to get your eyes checked.Vera looks her age. She's 39 so don't expect her to look like a 18 yeared old girl.As for Naomi, she also looks her age but have you seen her without make-up?She looks almost 15 years older!

I'm not saying she doesn't look her age now, though I don't think she does, I was saying she always looked much older when she was younger.

Look at this clip from UC Undercover. She looks way older than a 27 year old.

Compare how she looked in the clip to actresses who are currently 27. Actresses born in 1985/1986 who can still pass for younger college students.

personally i would disagree, especially about the 'way older' part.

i am 33 (ill be 34 later this year) myself and she don't look more than 30-ish. but i would say she does look closer to 30 than 20 in that video but then again when you are 27 it's starting to become harder to look like those 20-ish year old's in general as many of those early 20's people still look like teenagers out there (and act like it to).

some people who are 26-27 area can pass for noticeably younger than their age but not everyone as looking at myself i think i will be generally considered younger than my age but i am pretty sure i don't look as young as i used to but i think i could pass for late 20's though to some people but my days of looking closer to 20 than 30 i think are pretty much over but i imagine when i was around 27 i probably looked closer to 20 than 30 as it seemed that way from running into random people who occasionally brought up age etc.

p.s. but thanks for that clip as i never seen that before and seeing Vera never gets old ;)

sure, i might agree here but it seems like many people nowadays look noticeably younger than their age in Hollywood.

I think the roles she plays has to be taken into consideration. Sure there are 27 year old actresses playing younger, and maybe even pulling it off. But you have to consider make-up, hairstyle, how they are dressed, how they carry themselves, and the list goes on.

On the other hand, you have a young Vera playing very adult roles. I can think of maybe a few roles she was in where she was not a mother or some kind of professional. Doctor, CIA, or even her role in UC Undercover. She isn't supposed to look young. Look at that hairstyle, that ages her right there. The make-up, the clothes...again, the character is not supposed to be young.
