Too old for Bond

To me it seems like by the time Craig is done Elba will be too old for the part Craig is doing at least one more after SPECTRE so by that time Elba is going to be around the 45-46 range which just seems to old to me

Um, that is how old Craig is now. Also, he doesn't look his age. Also, think of all the OWM who played Bond. Next, troll.

I would say Craig is too old, at least for me. They need to go younger. Connery is the best Bond ever, and he was about 30 when he played Bond. That should be what they shoot for.
And the "how old Craig is now" comment is kind of the point. Elba isn't that much younger/older (no idea which) as the age Craig is NOW. You can then add a few years to that, because Craig is signed on for one more Bond. Then the problem with Bond is it is a 3 to 4 picture deal stretched out over 8 to 10 years. They don't hire you to do just one movie. So by the time Elba is done playing Bond, he's closer to 60 than he is 50. That is way too old. Look how horrible the Moore and Brosnan movies were when they got to be that age. Basically unwatchable.

Yes, Elba will be too old to be Bond. A new actor coming into the role needs to be mid-to-late 30's to give them a good 10 years in the role. Signing an actor already in his late 40's would be pointless and counter productive. I'd like to see Elba in the movies, maybe playing 008 or something, but as Bond, he's a non-starter.

I would love to see Idris Elba as Bond but I feel he's just that little bit too old now. Although Daniel Craig is 5 years older than Idris, he already has 3 Bond films under his belt and another on the way. I would love to see Idris in a Bond film though, he has all the ingredients to play a 00 Agent on an assignment with Craig's Bond.

Why are they a troll? Is it because they had a different opinion to you? In that case maybe it's you who's a troll.

I'd love to see Elba as Bond - he would be perfect in the role - but the truth is that yes he is TOO OLD.

Daniel Craig - who is doing fantastic work as the character by the way so let's not throw him under the boos - was 38 when he took on the role of Bond. His contract was for 5 movies - Spectre is the fourth - so presumably his contract won't be over until Bond 25 comes out in 2018 at the earliest. Craig also has the option to then expand his contract for one or two more movies. I could see him doing one more film but two seems unlikely. Craig will be in his early 50s when he's TOO OLD for the role & leaves.

Idris Elba is only five years younger then Daniel Craig. When Craig does leave the role Idris Elba will also be just about too old for the role as well. The Bond producers like to sign their Bond actors to multiple film contracts. Basically they'd like to get AT LEAST a decade out every version of James Bond if they can. They're not gonna sign an actor of ANY race who's turned or is about to turn 50 to play Bond. They'd have to recast the role in one or two movies. Not to mention they're getting into the creepy old man issues that plagued the Roger Moore era of Bond flicks. A guy in his 50s & 60s preying on & seducing girls a third his age. There's too many negatives here.

Idris Elba is awesome & he would be a great addition to the Bond version. Cast him as the smoothest of smooth Bond villains. Have Ralph Fiennes M get replaced with Elba's M. Better yet, let's cast Idris Elba as a smooth James Bonesque spy in his own franchise.

I'd love to see a black James Bond. I'm not against that at all. But, the way things are now Idris Elba is not going to be suitable for the role simply because of his age.

There. It's on the Internet. Thus it's official
