Great American accent

I had no idea he was Australian and I think he does an excellent job at speaking with an American accent.

He sure does!! He does a great Irish and Russian accent too in other films. The weirdest thing is that he has a very slight lisp when he speaks with his natural Australian accent, but not when he does an American one.

I had to sign up on this website just to comment on this 5 year old post!! I noticed right away (after binging on many former movies) that Joel Edgerton's slight speech impediment is only in his OWN Aussie accent. He nails his American accents (even regional - hello Boston!) with no lisp, but when he's back making an Australian film, there it is. I find that SO bizarre and fascinating!

I'm happy someone else noticed.

Not only an English accent in Kinky Boots, but a regional one.

Agreed. He is very good with accents.

There are few things as fetching as a bruised ego on a beautiful angel.

Which movies did he do the Irish and Russian accents? I unfortunately haven't seen many of his films yet.

Edgerton had a very convincing Irish accent in "Ned Kelly" (2003) alongside Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom. In "Smokin' Aces" (2006) he put on an hilariously thick Eastern European/Russian accent as one of Jeremy Piven's bodyguards. To this day, I can't look at a cinnamon roll without hearing his voice.....
