Just got done watching both seasons of Carnivale and thought it was decent enough, but certainly did not live up to its 8.7 IMDB.

Two things made me sick throughout:

1. The bearded lady, which was likely exactly what the creators were going for and should be considered a success.

2. Clea Duvall's character, Sofie. There are posts all over IMDB and the internet praising how beautiful she is. I really really tried to see it, but find her fugly as all hell. Reminded me of Olive-Oil (sic) from Popeye and certainly not a sex symbol.

She definitely wasn't very attractive in Carnivale, but I don't think she is an ugly person. She doesn't look bad in most of her other work, and to me she resembles Jennifer Garner in a way.

I noticed that in all her pictures available here she only smiles in 2. Everyone looks more attractive when smiling in my opinion. Seeing her in Carnivale she seemed ofish to me with humped shoulders and all. But that's not enough to find her unattractive per se, just in Carnivale.
