So good but not taking advantage

Talk about being typecast for this guy. All he does is soldier or law enforcement roles. He's pretty good playing that but i wish he would broaden his acting skills a little

What do you want him to play? A hairdresser? A yoga instructor? Here's a quote from Entertainment Weekly on Max in his new show Revenge.

How can you not love Frank the Investigator? As played by journeyman character actor Max Martini -- who, according to his IMDB page, should be familiar to anyone who has watched any television in the last decade -- Frank radiates terse calm, ninja badassery, and pure military discipline. He's not too different from Emily. They're both trespassing in a society where they don't really belong. They both keep secrets. They're surrounded by leisure, but they can never stop working. There's an undercurrent of barely-restrained passion between Frank and Queen Victoria -- it's unclear if they have a past or a future -- and you certainly can't blame Victoria for her roving eye. Sure, she's married to a multi-billionaire who can buy her a luxury automobile just because. But Frank looks like a man who could punch a bear in the face and then wear its skin as a sweater.

SO a quote from EW is supposed to make me regret this thread?

It's not about making you regret the thread. It's about making you understand that they call him for roles. He can't just wake up and decide that he is going to do a comedy. He has to be sought out and hired for a comedy. I'm sure he would love to do a comedy. So instead of suggesting that he isn't capable of playing anything else - the more logical thing to do would be to post on the producing side and say "hey - why don't you guys let this guy play a different kind if role"

Max has played other roles than soldiers and cops. He's played very believable bad guys on Criminals Minds, Burn Notice, Dark Blue, Castle, Without a Trace and a couple of Lifetime movies.

Max has stated in the past that he would enjoy doing comedy and I think he would be enjoyable to watch in a comedic role as well but I'm partial to seeing him play the soldier or cop, security guy. He's good as the intense character.

That's not strictly true. I recall a variety of actors who have spoken about pursuing roles they would never have been considered for because they had been typecast/pigeonholed into another kind of character. They volunteered to audition when they had a status that would not require it. Offered to take a pay cut or do it for free.

So if Max woke up one morning and decided he wanted to do comedy, he could probably do it. But he'd have to work much harder to get those roles. In a way, he's have to almost start over.

To the OP, should he still be reading. Maybe he likes playing soldiers and lawmen. Not everyone in show business needs to be an "Artist". For some, it's a job.

Max has a wife and a couple of kids, a family to support. Acting is his job. He probably enjoys it. If they're going to pay him to go from soldier to cop and it helps keep a roof over his family's head and allow him to splurge when he wants, then who is he to complain.

If you can't walk and talk/text at the same time, do the rest of us a favor and get out of the way.

He must be the only ginger guy who isn't stuck in comic relief roles. Well, maybe not only, but you know what I mean. Yeah, he does tough characters great. I'd wish to see him play against the type as well, but so far I enjoy seeing him in roles he does.

I think he'd do good in father type roles.
