And I found that I really like Emily Deschanel. Anyone else playing her character would annoy me, but she is just endearing and adorable. She really pulls it off.

I started watching it fairly recently as well in re-runs - around mid Season 4.
Great show. Sure there are some CSI elements where they can do completely unrealistic things (i.e. "enhance" a pixel to give you a photo or something along those lines), but other than that I find a lot of the show fairly believable - which is rare these days.
The cast is what drives the show though - everyone is simply amazing and got me hooked for sure.
