i was looking foward to this interview actually, but god almighty, it was the most lifeless interview i can recall. she was so dull, letterman was bored out of his skull, and there was scant a laugh to be had

I don't think she was dull or that Letterman was bored (albeit there didn't seem to be much banter and back-and-forth talk), and there were some laughs. However, I do think she was a bit nervous, as she was talking kinda fast. It was her first time on the show, so that's understandable. And the pacing was definitely a contrast to the Steve Martin interview that preceded it, as Martin was more relaxed, making all sorts of pauses before saying goofy things.

Just because I happen to like the Deschanel sisters doesn't mean I love everything they do (Go and ask on Zooey's board how much I looooooooooooooooooooove Gigantic...yes that was sarcasm in case you couldn't work that out). I just didn't happen to find the interview "lifeless" to take your word.
Perhaps you're just bitter that she got married before you could "make your move" as you told us you were going to do months ago....how'd that work out for ya mate?
