Do You Think He Could Pull Off a Serious Roll

He really seems to be the breakout star from the 'Sunny' cast (other than Devito, who was already famous) because personally I think he has the widest range of all the cast (He can be happy, sweet, sad, psychotic, dumbfounded, drugged out, etc). As well the past few years he seems to be hitting his stride, Horrible Bosses (I thought he stole the show here), Monsters University, Pacific Rim, and Lego Movie.

But in all these movies he pretty much does his Charlie Kelly act from 'Sunny' except usually not as crazy. So do you think he could succeed being cast against type. I think he could pull off like a serious more dark tone role (like a quiet psychopath, kinda like Travis Bickle), because we've seen him do some dark stuff in 'Sunny' (but again it's was for comedic effect) or do you think fans use to him playing a clown-like role wouldn't react well to him being more serious?

Any ideas on a role you think you could do good in?

I think he could do well in a serious role, but so many people see him as Charlie Kelly, the guy that eats too much cheese and huffs glue.

I thought he brought his comedic role to Pacific Rim in a very good way, didn't feel like the IASIP Charlie. I'd love to see him in a more dark, serious role.

I also felt he stole the show in Horrible Bosses.

You have to check out the blink and you'll miss him role in Law and Order. It was on in the UK recently. He can definitely do it and I think that he should do something "more" serious soon (I love him) as people will soon get sick of the shtick.

Do the *beep* snow angel, Dude!, Do the *beep* snow angel!

I definitely think he could and should if he wants.

I definitely think he has a great range, and talents and abilities that we haven't even begun to see. Something dark would be good, and, actually, I'd love to see him as a romantic lead, in a comedy and/or a drama. And I'm SUPER psyched at the thought of seeing him as Newt Geiszler again!!! *squee!!!* :-D

It wouldn't be the same. With Rob, Glenn and Kaitlyn he has a role that defines his character as who we know of today. If he had a series it wouldn't have the same substance as his character on Sunny. And if he tried doing that character which I believe is just how he is naturally people would say it's a copied role from Sunny.

Although, if he did the Texas southern accent thing in a series it would be golden.

I can probably see him guest starring in a Law & Order: SVU episode as the villain.
Maybe he can be an immature slacker who still lives at home and doesn't work and commits his crime because of his emotional immaturity. Either Paul Giamatti or Tom Hanks can be his dad and not sure who could be his mom.
I can see Giamatti or Hanks yelling and screaming at him or beating him up before he gets arrested or threatening to and Day either arguing with him or crying. Plus I can see him arguing with the detectives or crying in the interrogation room.
