Wonderful Actress

I hadn't been familiar with Essie Davis' acting until Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Then I realised I'd seen Ms. Davis in The Girl With the Pearl Earring and I hated her character in it (which is a testament to her acting, as the character was meant to be unlikable).

But in the lead role as Phryne Fisher, she's marvelous and brings so much charm to the series. I'm really enjoying it and hope the series goes on for as long as Ms. Davis is willing to be a part of it.

Also, she looks amazing as a brunette!

I had the exact same experience with Ms. Davis's acting. Just saw the first episode of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries and was enchanted with her acting. She was funny, smart, sassy, sexy but had her serious and kind-hearted moments, too, which kept her character from being tiresomely frivolous. I was stunned to discover Ms. Davis also played the humorless, vain and vacuous Ms. Vermeer. I knew she seemed familiar but I didn't recognize her. She's that good.

Frankly, I watched Miss Fisher on a whim, didn't even expect to watch the whole thing but she had me hooked instantly. Can't wait to go watch the next episode.

Aye to that! Love her!

Yes, noticed her first in Matrix 3. Then in Game of Thrones as Lady Crane. Then as a poor mother in Babadook.
