If you're from the U.S. you'll probably have a hard time understanding a Glasgow accent, or atleast that's what I've noticed. Edinburgh accents are fairly easy to understand for Americans, and it's a great city to visit.

Central belt , being around about glasgow and edinburgh and perth their really "Fun" accents around there

Try Dundee or Aberdeen, there the next biggest cities in Scotland after Glasgow and Edinburgh, different acccents as well

I'm from Edinburgh, and I've noticed that tourists are consistantly misprounouncing the city name. It's Ed-In-Bur-Rah. Edinburgh is beautiful, especially in spring. It's more of a historical city than Glasgow. Edinburgh has the Edinburgh Castle on a hill above it. Glasgow is good, it's more industrious than Edinburgh. Glaswegian accents can be quite difficult to understand, but usually what one is saying is distiguishable.

I'd also reccommend anywhere in Fife or Dundee. Both very beautiful.

Dumfries is nice (ma wee toon). Glasgow is my favourite city in Scotland though, can't say the accents are hard to understand though, but I guess its easy for me!

what what to scots think of Texans

Australian and southern accents are my all-time favourits. Yes it does rain quite a lot here, Id happily trade countries with ya!

I don't have a solution, but I do admire the problem.
