Does he ever actually say why he hates playing James Bond

"I'd rather slash my wrists than do another one". He's being difficult on the set of Bond 25. What about playing James Bond does he hate? Connery grew tired of media and fan circus around him, he also didn't want to get typecast as James Bond. Lazenby (foolishly) left because his agent told him the franchise was going nowhere. Moore simply got too old. Dalton left because he only wanted to do one movie after the 6 year hiatus from LTK. Brosnan got the boot because they were re-booting the franchise and needed a younger Bond. Barbara Broccoli loves Craig, despite his antics, and will do whatever it takes to keep him forever. I wonder what Craig has to do to finally get her to move on from him.

Perhaps he feels the same. Other than that and possibly the physical aspect that the role requires, I can't think of a real reason. He's probably tired of it because of petty reasons and acts all dramatical about it. After all, it's not like he is Hugh Jackman who has to work out his body and soul to get in shape everytime he has to play Wolverine again.

Because he knows he isn't good at it? Just a thought.

I think all the Bond complaining he has done just might be his plan to distance himself from the role even while he was still in it to avoid being 100% typecast. It's a way to remind people that Daniel Craig goes to work and PLAYS Bond instead of Daniel Craig IS Bond.

I want to add that I've never thought all the whining he did about Bond was a good look. He wasn't even two years into the role when he started complaining about Quantum of Solace. Either he is a whiny man in real life (yuck), or Ms. Broccoli liked him so much she just gave him carte blanche to do and say whatever he pleased. Probably a bit of both.
