Bad bond or just bad films?

Casino Royal sold me on him, then came Quantum which was disappointing after such a good start. Skyfall was a step in the right direction but Spectre is boring after the first 45 minutes.

So I think Craig is good but the plots or films are kinda crap the next better be a killer or it has to be his last!

Both LOL

I would say Bad Bond first and bad films second. I quite like CR and QoS despite my disdain for Daniel Craig because there were enough other redeeming qualities in those films, but SF and SPECTRE were a combination of bad scripts and a bad leading actor.

Most his movies have been very financially successful. Skyfall is the first billion dollar bond film (if you don't included inflation adjusted figures - I think Thunderball is the highest grossing Bond film then)

In the case of bad Bond vs bad films.

Casino Royale was an all time great Bond movie, loved Craig's Bond in this because you think he is learning to be a suave secret agent.

Quantum of Solace was both bad film and bad Bond.

Skyfall was a better movie, although its overrated. Craig is meh in this

Spectre was a mediocre movie, Craig mailed it in and slept walked through this one.

... both. The films certainly wern't great. I think Craig did a great job putting a compelling character on screen, but that character wasn't James Bond. Pretty much think they wasted the peak years of his acting career. Could have spent them creating his own action spy series that took inspiration from Bond films instead of being hampered by their baggage. I think in the future his time as Bond will be seen exactly as Brosnan's. Both stars represented the film industry's attitude at the time (fun and over the top then vs grounded and gritty today) and their casting was divisive. Both started out with a bang with very popular and well received movies. And then it all fizzled out. If anything, I fear Craig may set himself apart from Brosnan by adding the distinction: But also overstayed his welcome.

"but that character wasn't James Bond" I blame that on the producers who wanted a series of Bourne movies and the directors who followed orders,

Both, but Daniel Craig being severely miscast crippled the films before they ever had a chance of getting off the ground. He is not Bond, he's Jason Bourne 2.0.

How about.... neither. Darn, that’s not the appropriately edgy thing to state online. Granted QOS & Spectre were underwhelming, albeit they were nonetheless FAR from the franchise’s worst. I mean as much as hardcore Bond fans dislike them, at the end of the day these two so-so installments were better received than other mediocre installments in the franchise were in general (that’s including most of the Brosnan films). Frankly, Spectre’s direction is still easily some of the best in the franchise.

Casino Royale & Skyfall? There may be “a few” out there (mostly Bond purists) that’ll dismiss Skyfall, but along with Casino Royale it was a critically acclaimed film that was massively popular with audiences. GREAT films. And you know what, as unremarkable as QOS & Spectre were, it’s no question that the other two top-tier 007 films Craig starred in (also depending on how No Time To Die turns out - looks amazing) will ultimately be what most people will remember Craig’s Bond for.

Bad as Bond? Yea, that is mostly according to the oh-so-naysaying critics on the internet (a lot of boomers/xoomers make up those naysayers) who I’m glad to say don’t represent the majority. A Bond of this century needed a makeover, if you will. Some say he’s been too Jason Bourne-like (unimaginative criticism), I say they rightfully made him more savage than ever as well as HUMAN. So Craig’s incredibly intense and rugged, yet still super suave Bond > all.

Skyfall is favorite but he is phoning it in there people who are jumping on MI Frachise simply cuz Tom Cruise gives it his all unlike craig im looking forward POC Bond

Casino Royale was a star maker. Quantum of solace was ok, except for bad editing. Skyfall and especially Spectre were downhill with bad choices by the director.

Sam Mendes might be the worst film director alive on the earth today.
