Everybody Hates Daniel (and I seriously want to know why)

I have followed the Bond movies (and all the external drama/speculation/kerfluffle they entail) for *many* years, and I have never seen the level of vitriol directed at ANY Bond actor that I have heard directed at Craig. Am I missing something? The looks-shaming is bad enough but it's the other criticism I have a hard time figuring out.

%95 likes him, %5 hates him. There will be always criticism from some people. You can't just make happy everyone. I would have accepted this way.

The only reason is because he said he hates being James Bond and refused to even finish his 5 movie contract. The guy was offered 100 million dollars to return as Bond and he still refused (?!?!?). Most people think only an idiot would do that... especially an idiot who made the best Bond since Sean Connery. I can see why his fans are angry about this... I know I am.

What could he possibly do that's better than Bond after this? Is he going to fall into obscurity playing in silly romantic comedies and stuff?

Has it been confirmed he is quitting?

I think it's because the fans feel a little burned by him. I'm sort of one of them. He hasn't really had anything nice to say about James Bond at all in recent years. I respect his decision as an actor but I feel like he could have a little more tact about it. Just be a little nicer ya know? I think he's great as Bond so it's a little heartbreaking. Imagine meeting your favorite band they tell you the album you like the best is their least favorite. You'd be like ...oh well damn that kinda sucks. I still like you guys though.

I like Daniel Craig a lot, but it does put me off a tad when he complains about the grueling process of making a movie, wanting more money, etc. This is by no means restricted to Daniel Craig, because you hear it a lot from actors who are a large part of an ongoing series such as Bond.

Okay, it's hard work. I've worked on movie sets in the past, and the hours are long, the days are long, and a lot of times the sets can be very unfriendly and stressful places, depending on who's in charge/directing. But you know what? How many of us go to work (some at 16-18 hours a day) ALL YEAR LONG, year after year, dealing with a@@holes and angels alike in the workplace, and all for not even a fraction off what these folks make in just a couple of months? And most consider themselves lucky to have even that.

I think this is what puts a lot of people off when they hear celebrities talk about how hard they have it in life or at work.

Like they're saying "Try a day in my life. 60-80 hours a week, every week. Only without the $60,000,000.00 paycheck at the end of the tunnel."
