Anyone feel sorry for all his Oscar losses?

"ASIB" lost BIG time at the Oscars, all it won was Best Song, something Cooper had no hand in except to sing off-key on national TV. It lost out on Best Picture, he lost out on Best Actor, and it failed to scoop awards for the other actors, the cinematographer, the screenplay, or anything technical. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

I'm darkly amused because I can't stand the guy, and enjoyed seeing him repressing his rage on national TV. Anyone have any more sympathy?

reply

Not really. He's a movie star. I think a lot of people would trade places with him in a heartbeat. Most people will never experience even getting nominated for an AA.

Well, at least he's not alone, they lose together. It'll be more depressing if your movie won Best Picture, the song won Best Song, the director won, the lead actress won, the script won, etc. etc. And then you lost. That's... bad.

I don't feel bad for him at all. He made a good film that was hugely successful. That should be sufficient.

When it comes to awards, I'd rather root for someone who produces a completely original work of art. When a person produces a remake, they are building on work other people have already done before.
