Taika Waititi becomes first Maori person to win an Oscar

“I dedicate this to all the Indigenous kids all over the world who want to do art and dance and write stories. We are the original storytellers and we can make it here as well.”

Stoked as bro. Whakatau Taika!!

reply

He’s wonderful, I can’t wait to see all of the beautiful art he inspires other Maori people produce. I can imagine that this must be such a beacon of hope for young indigenous kids to see!

reply

Pretty much a joke that he won an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit.

reply

Not as bigger joke as your life.

reply

Damn, my comment really got you mad, huh? Sorry about that, little buddy.

reply

No not really. I read all the miserable post titles you have done before that comment and concluded your pretty much a joke. Take care.

Do you have any specific arguments against any of the subjects discussed in those threads, or are you just going to post the titles like it means anything at all? I could easily do the same with your actual trash topics, but that would be a stupid thing to do. So it's quite fitting that you did it.

It's "you're" by the way - might want to at least get your grammar correct when attempting to insult people.

reply

Well, my real argument is that for you to call this wonderfully written Oscar winning script a joke shows a real nasty side to your personality. You probably fit the profile of a white supremest Nazi sympathizer. And OK, seeing that English is my second language of choice I think I do fairly well.

reply

Hey Jimmy you forgot he is probably a Holocaust denier as well 😝

Taika Waititi is pure genius.

While I enjoyed Parasite, Jojo was easily the better film.

I am so glad I caught this one in the theatre. The standing ovation it received at the end was just chilling.

reply

Hey, great stuff - accusing someone of being a holocaust denier because they disagree with Taika Waititi winning Best Adapted Screenplay for this average film. Real immense intelligence on display there. Real quality human being you are.

reply

[deleted]

I said it was a joke that he won an Oscar for this adapted screenplay, not that the screenplay itself was a joke. There is in fact a difference. So yes, despite English being your second language, you do seem to have serious comprehension issues.

I'm not even going to bother with the latter part of your post - the fact that people are so insane these days that they'll just straight up accuse people of being Nazis for disagreeing with them on something, is incredibly sad. It's just disgusting behavior on your part.

reply

Hey Maul

Lay of the comprehension crap, it makes you seem really old. This is a chat forum most people do on their phones in bed half asleep.

And yeah, I interpreted your response as racist too. Dude it’s 2020.

Since you think you are so clever, go and get a copy of Caging Skies then perhaps you can appreciate Mr Waititi‘s wonderful adaptation instead of labeling it as joke.

The real joke is for you calling this film average.

Ok...you are now on my ignore list so respond away.

reply

You're not even worth a reply beyond saying that you're not even worth a reply, I'm afraid.

Oh, and that you're a coward, for posting your trash then scuttling away with the ignore button, like a virtual litterer.

reply

😂 😂

Yikes Maul

You just got owned by a Jew.

Now bow your head down and shuffle away.

reply

Why do these comments keep getting more and more childish and ridiculous? Every new post is dumber than the last.

You are so upset that I disagree with Taika Waititi winning an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit that you are just mindlessly posting utter garbage as a response, and you think that's... doing what, exactly?

reply

Blah blah. You sound the same with every lame reply.

reply

The problem with Maul is that he has a real issue with SJWs, just look at his other posts. So here we have a brilliant script written by an indigenous person and he automatically labels it as a joke that he won an Oscar. Despite his pathetic attemptS at trying to defend himself, we all know what he meant and where he was coming from.

reply

Shhhh. I think he’s gone. Don’t encourage him back.
Let sleeping dog lie.
😆

reply

You thinking that someone is "gone" for being away from a messageboard for a couple days, and on a weekend no less, is pretty revealing of your personal habits and addiction to the internet. Quite disturbing, actually.

reply

I simply don't care whether Taika Waititi is Maori, or Jewish, or black, or whatever other labels you want to apply. The fact that you think these things, skin color or place of birth, are defining factors of a human being... that we need to amplify them, label, and judge people differently because of them, is something that I'm not a fan of.

The fact that you are, and are so quick to label others as "white supremacists" for having a mentality that is literally the opposite of such a thing, is so backwards, juvenile and ridiculous that it isn't even worth responding to. Yet, here we are. My mistake.

Not to mention, the title of this topic mentions him being Maori, but I wasn't responding to that - I was responding to the fact that he won an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit of all films. If there was another topic that simply mentioned him winning an Oscar for Jojo Rabbit, I would have commented there. But there wasn't. You were the one who had to bring all this other nonsense into the discussion, because of course you would.

So, shall we waste more time on this? You have any more meaningless, baseless insults to throw out? Or is it time to move on, and accept that some people have different opinions than you whether someone deserves an Oscar or not?

I agree. Not a fan of his.

reply

You must totally be some kind of racist, amirite.

reply

Or his old like you 😊

I thought Maul died?

reply

What prompted you to venture out of your sludge pit to make this comment in particular?

reply

Because I thought you died? Duh.

reply

isnt he jewish?

reply

He’s my cousin.

reply

are you jewish?

He was not the first, that was Hammond Peek, who won for Best Sound Mixing in 2003 & 2005 (The Return of the King & King Kong)
