Least successful cast member from Superbad?

I really thought he would be the most successful cast member when Superbad came out because he was also in Juno and AD. But now it looks like Jonah Hill, Emma Stone and even McLovin are all way more successful than him. I guess you can only be typecast for so long.

It's kinda sad but you're probably right. I mean he did have more major roles after Superbad than McLovin, but if you look at his credits for the past 5 years it's pretty depressing. Even the 4th season of Arrested Development was a disappointment. (Can't blame him for that) He was funny in This Is the End but they killed him off immediately. I think that pretty much sums up where has career has gone. He basically had a cameo in a movie he could have starred in at one point.

Not sure that's entirely accurate. He's been in some pretty memorable and successful movies outside of Superbad. Scott Pilgrim, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Juno, This Is The End, Youth In Revolt, Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus.. Not to mention Arrested Development is a HUGE success now. I think he's a pretty good actor, just needs another great role

Although I agree on him being typecast led him to getting less and less prominent roles recently, he is without a doubt more successful than Martha MacIssac since you brought up Stone. And probably Mintz-Plasse too since there was a short period of time where Cera could headline a movie unlike him.

reply

In what universe is Christopher Mintz-Plasse more successful than Michael Cera? The fact that you called him by his Superbad character's name and not his actual name is proof enough that Superbad is the only role he will be remembered for, while Michael Cera has quite a few very successful starring roles under his belt.

In what world have Jonah Hill and Emma Stone been more successful than Michael Cera?

A world where both Jonah Hill and Emma Stone have been nominated with the Oscar for best actor/actress in a supporting role? (The Wolf of Wall Street and Birdman)

when I took an acting class 10 years ago it was common knowledge to diss him even though none of got our shot or anything
