He is the new Christopher Reeve?

In the sense of NOT working in OTHER movies.

Christopher Reeve was a great actor but he was CURSED and never have success OUTSIDE Superman movies.

I hope Henry Cavill isn't the modern Christopher Reeve or the modern Pierce Brosnan. I think he could do better than those 2.

I hope Henry Cavill make some ICONIC movie OUTSIDE Superman movies in the future.

For example:

Christopher Reeve TURNED DOWN Pretty Woman(Richard Gere role). Stupid decission.

I don't think a comparison can be made between Chris & Henry (aside from them both playing Superman). Chris did a lot of stage work and he did movies that didn't work including 2 Superman movies that are worse than almost anything Superman related besides that weird musical from the 70's that nobody saw and what could've been with Nicholas Cage as Superman.

Henry's has the luxury of time which is something Chris didn't have after his accident.

IMDB taught me: cynicism is praised. optimism must be stamped out wherever it can be found.

Christopher Reeve did other movies and as Pepsi stated, stage work. You comparing him to Henry, not the same thing.

What are we without the sky.

Pierce Brosnan made a number of great films outside of Bond to consider if you are wrongfully insinuating that he was a worthless name outside the 007 franchise.

Not that you asked but I loved Brosnan as Bond.

Chris did some beautiful stuff after Superman, my favorites being The Bostonians

The Remains of the Day

If you haven't seen them, you're in for a treat.

I am not so sure if he "was" cursed, but seemed more inclined to turn down or walk away from movies that could have done wonders for his career. You pointed out Pretty Woman, but aside from that, if one would believe everything in his Wikipedia entry, he seems to have also turned down roles in Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction, Lethal Weapon, etc., that have all done well.

He even turned down the chance to be the lead in some TV series because he didn't want to move to LA and be more separated from his kids.

Comparing him to HC seems pointless because they seem to have two very different outlooks for their career in acting. HC has said many times that he's in it for the money. But C Reeves seemed to show he really has a love of the craft of acting -- studying seriously for it in Cornell, Julliard; doing a lot of theatre work; befriending serious actors like John Houseman, Katherine Hepburn, and versatile ones like Robin Williams. He is willing to turn down roles if he thinks it is not good artistically or not well written even if they bring in more money, but he is happy enough to take roles in independent or critically acclaimed movies like Remains of the Day even if he is paid a small fraction of what he could earn. HC and CR couldn't be more different in their outlook about acting...

As for PIerce Brosnan -- again very different. Prior to James Bond he was famous for his TV role as Remington Steele. He had starred in a lot of other movies -- both blockbusters (eg Mrs. Doubtfire, Mama Mia) and independent movies (The Matador). He also has his own production company that has actually produced some independent small films (I think a lot in Ireland, his country of birth). HC's production company hasn't completed one single film at this time.

Crushes should be like Kleenex -- soft, strong, and disposable.
